The North Face Men's Redpoint Vest would like to join you on your next endeavor; don't worry, it can hang. Made from 40-denier nylon ripstop and filled with PrimaLoft® Eco insulation, this should be a staple piece of outdoor clothing. Tough, warm and designed for hard core pursuits, this TNF insulated vest is designed with a standard fit that is zip-in compatible with designated North Face jackets and parkas of the same size so you can rock it on the slopes when colder temps require warmer mid layers. Good Vest
March 19, 2012

Bought to fin in a NorthFace shell. Works well, want to get the Redpoint jacket, haven't found it with the right size and price. I use it as a liner with the jacket and as a vest by itself.

ITS A LIfe saver
February 23, 2012

I travel quite alot for work and use technical clothing where ever I go since I work out of doors for a forestry company. I work in (100+ degrees) down to (zero degrees) i WORK IN RAIN, SNOW, ICE OR SCORCHING HEAT). I am very seldome above the tree line unless its for panoramic file Photos of the forest section being processed for lumber and then reforested. I was traveling to El Paso Tx on my waqy to New Mexico, in the early part of December normaly its pretty mild during the day 50-60 degrees with lows in the 20s at night but not much snow or rain to worry about I happened to arrive at the worst December in years and my luggage was lost for two days and of course my TNF Ruby Ridge parka was in my luggage. I have several items I always carry in my carry-on pack depending on the season this time around i happened to have the Redpoint vest in my carry-on back pack from a previous trip and luckly it was there when I needed it. I wore my THF Apex Bionic jacket while on the plane since its a great travel jacket. When I arrived to El Paso Tx it was to a torrential rain fall and about 35 degrees. As i rummaged through my carry-on pack i found the vest and quikly put it under my soft shell and easly edured two days of heavy cold rain with the vest as my only insulating layer. This vest is compact and very warm during the cooler part of the day I was very comfortable just wearing the vest and a shirt during the day and at night as mid-layer. I would recommend this vest highly. The vest packs into its own pocket and takes up very little space. The fit is rather athletic and form fitting. I love napoleon pockets because I offten use topo maps and they store very nice in the napoleon pockets for quick access. I have since then used the vest repetedly under hardshells, softshells or as a stand alone piece and find it very warm and comfortable. Its a little to tight for use with a heavy fleece so order a size up if you plan on wearing it with a heavy sweater or fleece underneath. AWESOME/PERFECT
November 03, 2011

i'd been looking at this vest for over a year. SOO happy with it. looks awesome, fits awesome, and NF quality. it keeps you plenty warm down to the teens even with just a sweatshirt underneath, and unlike most jackets it doesn't hold a bunch of extra heat and moisture in and make you hot inside.. very versatile. don't need to take it off all the time to not get hot is what i'm saying. the cut is also very nice- close to the body and just a little longer than your belt area so you're not sitting on it all the time, etc. i wear medium/athletic cut shirts in basically every brand and this is perfectly fit. no cons at all.

Perfect Vest for Layering . . . . or Not
April 20, 2011

I was looking for a vest that had a high warmth/weight ratio. Of course, you immediately think of insulated. As I've transitioned from down to Primaloft, this of course narrowed the choice to Primaloft vest. What's surprising is there doesn't seem to be as many choices as there are for vests made of fleece. There are definitely other versions/brands synthetic insulation choices, but in my research Primaloft seems to provide everything that down has, but has the added benefit of providing warmth, even in wet conditions and has a trimmer profile. This was the biggest selling point for me as this vest can be used as a layer under a rain shell or give you that extra warmth under a fall coat. Details: This vest doesn't have the severe "quilting" of other vests, the armpit holes are elastic-y to keep in warmth around the arms. The medium is 27" long in the back and 22" across the chest. This means the fit is not relaxed in so many performance apparel. In fact, when buying any vest, the only fit should be trim and close to the body. The 22" is perfect for me as it didn't sag on me - although I would have preferred an 1" closer in. The length wasn't too long for me and just ended below my waist. All in all, I'm happy with this choice. The high warmth/weight ratio (100 gm Primaloft is just right great for Spring/Fall weather or extra warmth in winter. Anything above that might be too much heat.), the trim profile due to the cut of the vest and the use of Primaloft, and the details (armpit holes, quilting style) all make this the perfect vest. However, for some of you (and me) that huge North Face logo does detract from an otherwise great choice.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

Great Vest

This vest is lightweight, warm and comfortable. I snowboard and use this under my jacket for those extra cold days. I can also use this vest under my over coat for work. I highly recommend.

Great Product
January 03, 2011

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He is always very warm, and I figured this would be perfect because its is lighter weight. He LOVES it! He can wear it with a sweatshirt or with a long sleeved tee or thermal and doesn't feel like he is in a sauna. I love North Face, because I know I am purchasing quality products that will last!

Men's Redpoint Vest
November 26, 2010

The Vest was comfortable and fit me perfect. Keep in mind that I purchased a large and that I am 6'1'' 190 pounds with a size 33 waist. The vest looks good over sweatshirts and T-shirts. I went out to the bars with the vest over a fleece one night. I am an active individual and the vest provided a unique combination of warmth and mobility with the arms. My one reserve with the vest was that the strap that tightens the bottom was broken. I had only worn the vest twice at this point. I just sent it back and am in the process of ordering another one. Know that the red point vest runs big. Large is for a large individual. My brother, 5'10'' with a muscular build, thought it was too big when he tried it on.

Excellent gift
November 05, 2010

Gave it to my nephew for a gift and he was overjoyed with it. This vest keeps him warm on days when it is sunny. He likes when he wears it to play tag football because it gives him more freedom of movement than a coat which would make him sweat---the vest keeps him warm but dry.

Good Buy
September 28, 2008

Not as warm as feathers but much easier to maintain. Light weight and warm enough for early winter. Thin enough to use a layer.

great vest

My son was thrilled when he received this vest. I knew he wanted a vest but wasn't sure what kind. It's the perfect weight for all activities year round.

A comfortable lightweight vest
March 20, 2008

This is the second Redpoint vest I have purchased. The first was a gift and the second was for myself at a good price. The vest is thin, warm and very comfortable under a shell which makes it ideal for camping and winter hiking. As mentioned in another review, the collar design is excellent and helps block the wind. Also the vest packs well in a small stuff sack. Overall a great, well made vest.

The perfect vest
February 23, 2008

This vest is excellent because it is lightweight, stores easily, fits well and comes in a variety of attractive colors. I've worn it practically every day since purchasing it a month ago. I've already bought another one (different color) to coordinate a little better with some of my other clothes. Another thing I really like about this vest is the fact that the pockets zip. Also, the pocket on the front of the vest is very useful too. I would highly recommend this vest to anyone.

excellent choice!
January 03, 2008

I gave 3 North Face Redpoint vests for Christmas. Everyone loved them putting them on immediatel;y I was one of the recipients and I have worn my vest every day. I love the collar. It lays flat when unzipped--not uncomfortable like most stand up collars.

Good looks and functional
December 01, 2007

I bought this vest in black and really like it. My wife saw it in the closet and was unsure about the looks, but changed her mind when I wore it. She was shopping for a women's model the next week. This vest has good looks and is best for moderately cool to cold conditions. If it's really cold outside, you're probably better suited to go with a wind proof fleece model. I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to others.

Perfect for fall
October 31, 2007

I've had mine for a few months now and it is perfect for an outer piece when temps are between 35-50... and great for an insulating layer while backpacking.
