Great Socks
May 21, 2012

These socks fit true to size, but can stretch a bit if needed. They are warm but you do not overheat in them. Best uses are when it is cooler to cold outside. Just started wearing through my first pair of them, they lasted a good amount of time considering the heavy use.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

We have many pairs of these socks (and women's version as well). I like the thickness. They are soft and very warm, and they are not too thick to break in the shoes. They are my favorite socks. Since I have worn them for quite some time, I might have found a little that could be improved, that is, I do hope the manufacture will make the crew a little looser, not because they are currently very tight, but that I like the feeling that I feel nothing, and when our skin is not pressed, our body can be heathier.:)

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Best sox i've owned
January 15, 2012

I ordered these for work. I am a meter reader in Phoenix and wear these under my hiking boots during the winter for a minimum 9 hours a day. I picked the mediums for winter and they are awesome. I find myself wearing them for several days in a row without washing which may seem weird but they show no signs of wear or smell and I'm sure this will extend their life.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
Cons: Cost
Comfort: 5 / 5

Great Winter Socks for Active use
October 11, 2011

I use these for my fall/winter bike commute. I find them perfect for temperatures ranging from the high 30s to mid 50s. They are fairly durable, and I like the fit--definitely has some cushioning, but not too bulky in a pair of shoes. Wool's moisture wicking and anti-odor properties are always a plus too.

Cons: Cost

These socks are great!
May 28, 2011

I bought them for my dad who wears them instead of the medical diabetic socks. They're cushioned across the entire bottom so his feet won't be injured and they are very comfortable. I'm an advocate as I've been buying and wearing them for some time.

Pros: comfort, full cushioned sole, warm

Excellent socks
April 12, 2011

Once you wear Smartwool socks, you will never want to wear cotton or polyester socks again. Or most normal wool socks. These are near perfect, thick and comfortable, thou I don't quite understand the point of the goofy racing stripes on them. Easy to wash. Personally I air dry them instead of using the dryer. Good for cold weather. Good for mild weather. Still better than cotton for warm weather. Great moisture wicking.

Sock it to me again!
March 17, 2011

Everything people say about these socks is true. They really are that good! Since they dry fast and resist odor I find I can bring just two pairs on hiking trips (wear one and carry one), thus saving significant weight. These socks weigh 85 grams (3 ounces) per pair in large size. The medium weight is great for long hikes in cool weather. After experiencing Smartwool socks I don't want to wear anything else!

great hiking sock for cold weather
January 12, 2011

I spent the weekend hiking the paramos in the Colombian Andes with only this pair of socks (and of course all my other clothes...). It was rainy and I didn't have waterproof shoes. Luckily, I had these socks. They kept my feet warm, were incredibly comfortable, and best of all, they hug your feet quite nicely and stay put! When I came home and washed them they went right back to how they looked before I'd put them through sock h377. Love 'em. Of course, they're SmartWool...what do you expect?

make old shoes feel like new
December 23, 2010

These socks are great. They do all that Smartwool promises when they say their socks are warm, dry (even if you sweat), comfortable and durable. You pay more but they are worth every penny. I really think I am going to wear ONLY Smartwool socks from now on. You can even order different thicknesses depending on the shoe you want to wear them with.

Wish I could afford more...
December 18, 2010

These would be the only socks I ever wear. I got a pair of smartwool quarter socks with my shoes and they were so awesome that I researched and bought these crew socks. Wearing them in my combat boots have been the most comforatable combination I have ever had on my feet. Plus, their intelligent sizing allows me to have socks that actually fit my 8.5 feet. Wish I could afford to replace all my socks with SmartWool.

These keep my feet warm and comfortable, and I don't wear any other socks in the Winter.

THE best
April 05, 2010

There is a reason they're pricey, they really are the best socks I've ever owned. The fit is much better than any of the Bridgedale, IceBreaker, Patagonia...whatever socks you want you want to compare them to. I think they're the closest you can get to a "stink-free" pair of socks, which might be a moot point because my feet never seem to sweat with them on. If I'm wearing shoes, I'm wearing these.

I always buy smartwool
December 18, 2009

Smartwool fits well and keep my feet warm without the odor I get with other socks.

45 miles - not 1 blister !
September 12, 2009

I previously used cotton or generic brand wool socks for hiking. A bicycling friend recommended Smartwool socks, so I dug deep into the pocket and purchased several pairs. They performed extremely well on a recent 45 mile backpacking trip to Mt. Whitney. They were comfortable, did not bunch, remained dry, didn't smell (not too bad) and washed well on the trail. I took 2 pairs, alternated days and the socks appear to have worn well. We'll see how they look in several years! Good product, I would buy again. Look for sale prices and don't get hung up on color - it's not a fashion show out there!

GREAT socks!!
May 21, 2009

These socks are very comfortable due to the combination of the wool and construction/support. The padding is just right and never feels bulky. My feet have never felt too hot which is remarkable living in SO. CA.
