A very comfortable and breathable sock for cycling, worn inside chuck-ds solely for commuter cycling. Wore a hole in the rear mid ankle after a few months, perhaps 60 rides? 120? regardless it wore out much faster than most of the 20 other pairs i'd ordered ( was on a try-all-merino-socks kick ). About 1/4 of the smartwool brand sock types had a similar problem. there is no reinforcement at the bony back end of ones heel, the spot most likely to rub away as one pedals along. cannot recommend for cycling.

These socks are perfect for those who want a sock thick enough to provide comfort, but breathable enough to be very cool. The short ankle is perfect for wearing in all seasons...

I bought a ton of smartwool socks hoping for the best, and my hopes were answered. These socks are so breathable it is like wearing no socks at all, except that your shoes don't stink afterwards and you get some extra support. Unbeatable.
