Description

Offering even more versatility than the Tikka 2 head lamp model, the Petzl Tikka Plus 2 has been completely reengineered for this season. Built with 1 high output white LED and 1 red LED, the Tikka Plus 2 switches between maximum, economic, and flashing modes with just the click of a simple electronic push-button switch. With a longer light range than the Tikka 2, the Tikka Plus 2 delivers a maximum beam distance of 35 meters and has a maximum burn time of 140 hours. Switch from the white to red LED for improved night vision or for extra visibility and safety in urban environments when riding your bike home late from work. With a redesigned hinged battery compartment that opens wide, there is no more fumbling to close your headlamp like on older models. Equipped with battery life indicator, you will know when it is time to put in new set and the Tikka Plus 2 is compatible with lithium batteries. If you are looking for a small, lightweight, energy efficient headlamp that doesn't compromise visibility and shines bright, the Petzl Tikka Plus 2 will deliver. Other LED headlamps you might be interested in are the Petzl Tikka 2, the Petzl Zipka Plus, Petzl Tikkina 2 and the Petzl Myo XP.

very impressed
April 24, 2012

I just got this and was very surprised by how bright the light was. I walk in the morning, in the country and it is pitch black. This is bright enough, that I no longer have to carry a flashlight. I would recommend this to anyone who walks or jogs in the dark. It is very bright. I don't know how the batteries will last, as i just got it. Very comfortable to wear. I though the price seemed a little high for this when i was looking for a handsfree way to light my path when I walk, but would definately buy it again. Hands down better than the lighted hat I bought. Can't beat the free shipping from Altrec, made it the best buy I could find for this light.

No more headaches
September 25, 2011

Only by happenstance did I discover this little jewel. I love it. Fits well around my head, not heavy, very bright when needed, or when in the tent the low light is perfect. I use this headlamp for walking my dog in the evenings, leaving my hands free. Very important. Also use it to pick up the dog doo at night, yuck. The red light is great when out during dusk. But the best part is that I no longer get headaches. I could never wear a headlamp for longer than a few minutes without developing a headache. The build of this one distributes the weight well, what little weight there is. Also the functionality of the tilting in different positions is fantastic. Just an overall great lamp. I plan on using it caving. I believe it will be perfect.

Great running headlamp
September 09, 2011

Used this headlamp for night legs for Hood to Coast relay and Cascade Lakes relay. Also used it for a nighttime 50K race. Lamp is lightweight and caused no headaches. Able to adjust lamp brightness settings for different lighting (low light streetlights, mist, dark). Also able to project the light beam close or far to see road conditions (potholes, slope of road, gravel, etc). Also, I have used this lamp camping without any issues. Highly recommend this headlamp.

Great Headlamp
July 08, 2011

This head lamp was perfect for what I needed. I used it for a long trip and didn't have to change batteries too often. The headlamp is comfortable to wear and I like the different light settings. The only propblem with it was in freezing temperatures the battery didn't last very long, but this is probably more of a battery problem than a problem with the headlamp. Otherwise I highly recommend this headlamp to everyone, its a good quality headlamp and not too expensive.

Good companion on a summit hike
July 03, 2011

This little headlamp was my number one companion on a pitch dark hike to the summit. I liked the fact that it was very compact and small (compared to my hiking mates' bulky lamps), but it definitely does not lose out in brightness and throw. It lasted me for 2 days 2 nights, even though I brought extra batteries. Highly recommended!

I can see
June 23, 2011

I basically bought this in case there's a hurricane and the power goes out, so I haven't really put it to that test. I did use it in the middle of the night to find my way to the refrigerator and it worked flawlessly. The light is very bright making it easy to see in the dark. When I had the lights in flicker mode it did freak my cat out. That was too funny. This headlamp is great and I hope I don't have to use it when the power's out due to a hurricane.

An unusual use for my Tikka 2 plus
March 13, 2011

I live in a swampy, hurricane prone state. Power outages are common and when traversing the swamps in canoe or pirogue especially at dusk or dawn, a good reliable headlamp is a must. My Petzl Tikka 2 Plus is the best headlamp I've ever used. Whether looking for those beady alligator eyes at night or searching for a Crane's nest at dawn the Petzl Tikka 2 Plus fills the bill. I especially like that it's lightweight, comfortable and the red led light has added a new demension to enjoying the more reclusive denizens of the swamps and bayous at night. Bravo!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, spots alligators quickly!

This headlamp is amazing for the price: Durable, bright, comfortable. The various settings are great for storing battery power and the emergency settings are comforting...just in case. It's also really nice to have and indicator for half life battery power so you can be better prepared.

December 05, 2010

I've had this headlamp for a while now, and used it both while hiking and camping and fishing in the woods, running on the pitch black morning dirt roads, taking out the compost, repairing the roof at night, etc, you name it! It would be hard to be without it!

Great Headlamp
November 09, 2010

The Tikka Plus 2 Headlamp is great for camping and hiking when it's starting to get dark. Headlamps are great for allowing full use of your hands for other tasks - such as cooking, or reading. It would have been nice to include the Petzl case along with the headlamp.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use

Petzl, always the best
August 17, 2010

Good improvements on the old model, brighter light etc, but most appreciate that the battery compartment really is more user friendly--esp. important if you are changing them in less than ideal conditions.

lightweight and well made
December 24, 2009

Honestly, I haven't used this product yet. I bought it for a hiking trip to the Grand Canyon this spring. However, this is exactly what I was looking for in terms of light brightness and weight in case I need trail lighting in the dark.

November 10, 2009

Great for winter running, setting up camp... my husband has even borrowed it to ride his bike on a dark morning. Love the different light modes, including the red.

improved functions
November 03, 2009

Great headlamp. I had the tikka but wanted something brighter with a longer max distance. The red light function is a great improvement as well.
