Great for every cold day...
February 22, 2012

I love this jacket. It is so versatile and can be worn any time it is cold outside. I love how lightweight it is and how it keeps me warm, even on the coldest days. The reputation is definitely earned and deserved for this Patagonia down sweater. I'm glad I found this on Altrec. Great service and product selection. Will buy from here again.

Great Lightweight Jacket
February 03, 2012

I ordered this jacket for my wife, and she really loves it. First of all, it is incredibly lightweight - she says that it feels almost like she is wearing a warm cloud with it on. This is because of the high quality, high-loft (800 fill) down that Patagonia puts in to it. You can also easily stuff it away, and it really does compress to a tiny size if you need to put it into a backpack or suitcase. The hood is generous, and easy to cinch down on a windy day. My only recommendation for this jacket would be to consider pairing it with a good quality rain shell if you are in a wet climate (hello Pacific Northwest). With that said though, it is water resistant enough to stand up to a light drizzle or a quick jaunt from the car without absorbing much at all. Build quality is great, although I expect nothing less from Patagonia. Overall, a great jacket either as a a standalone, or used as a layer.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Great feel, but horrible fit in the huge arms
January 30, 2012

I LOVED this jacket for the incredible warmth (800 fil), freedom of movement, and bulk-less, flattering slim fit. BUT had to return because the arms were cut so enormously. I bought an XS (5'2, 108 lbs, slim build) & it fit perfectly except the arms. It might have been a defective one, as the arms do not look as disproportionate as in the web photos. It wasn't just an appearance issue - warmth of the arms was compromised by all the space. Note: My rating on durability is based on my other Patagonia experiences.

Patagonia rocks
January 27, 2012

This is an amazing jacket. So lightweight and as warm as my puppy Northface jacket that I look like the Pillsbury Dough boy in. My only complaint, and I admit I am hard on clothing, is that I already have a small tear in it. wish it were more tearproof.

Super Well and Well Designed
January 16, 2012

I'm 5'4" and 125 lbs and the small fits me perfectly. It's snug enough to keep the warmth in but I can still squeeze a solid base layer underneath without restricting my mobility. The jacket is way warmer than I expected. Did a 1/2 hike through Acadia here in New England and got caught in a little drizzle and the water proofing proved better than I expected. You can't go wrong.

I'm a bit of a patagonia junkie and this is by far my favorite piece they make. Fits perfectly, (cuts off right at hips- not too short as in previous years) layers really well and keeps me warm on the coldest of days. Hope to see another one under the tree this year.

practical and pretty
May 30, 2011

I have had my eye on this pretty down jacket since last winter and I was finally able to afford it with 20% coupon from Altrec. I am 5'2" and 110lbs and ordered a small size thinking it should give me some room for layering. When I received the jacket, I loved everything about it except the size. It was very generous size small, more like size large. I called the Altrec customer service to exchange it to XS (the process was surprisingly painless). It only took few days for the jacket to arrive, (XS is still roomy) and I took it to Mt. Boldy-Bowl summit where it was very windy and cold that day. This down jacket is superlight, windproof and water-resistant yet breathable – it is warm but doesn’t trap sweat inside. There are two zippered out side pockets and one interior zippered stretch mesh, which doubles as a stuff sack. I like the elastic cuffs and the bottom of the jacket has draw cord hem seal. The hood is helmet compatible and a draw string on the back to adjust the fit, however, I would prefer the string on the side of the hood. This jacket overall proved to be very practical on the trail and also is so darn cute to wear.

Not Warm, Can See Light Through Stitching
May 12, 2011

I bought this jacket after some rave reviews from friends. I put it on for a walk on a cool evening, and I found that it wasn't as warm as I expected from a down jacket. It wasn't even very cold outside, but I was shivering. Also, the stitching allows you to see light through it, probably leaking air through those tiny holes and contributing to the draft I felt in this jacket.

Favorite jacket!
April 29, 2011

This is my new favorite jacket. It's perfect for every day winter wear in New York, it kept me warm on all but the coldest and windiest days. The only thing I have a slight issue with is that when it's very cold my hands will get slightly cold in the pockets, which never happened with bulkier or heavier down coats. Only downside for me though - it's incredibly light and so easy to pack down, I love it. The hood is perfect, very warm, although it took me a little while to get used to the pull cord. It's water repellent - basically unless it's soaking wet out, I don't bother with my waterproof (Patagonia) rain coat. I am so glad I splurged and bought this, it's well designed and very high quality. Sizing wise, I'm 5'4" and pretty small in the chest area and the XS was perfect, I can wear it easily with or with out a layer. Great job, Altrec and Patagonia!

Amazing, but could be better...
April 23, 2011

I lived in my hooded down sweater this winter. It is like wearing a sleeping bag, except not quite as snuggly as the men's version. I am quite petite (size 0/2) and found the fit a bit strange. The arms are long but the waist is too high. I know this is Patagonia's attempt at style, but I prefer a mid-hip, more functional fit. As a result, I gave it a 4-star rating in hopes that improvements will be made toward a more traditional fit. We girls deserve as many duck hugs as the boys get:)

So Glad I splurged
January 17, 2011

This coat is expensive but it's really worth it. It's a beautiful coat and you will never worry that it looks cheap. It's unbelieveable how thin but still how warm it can be. My favorite thing about it is you don't get really sweaty when you go inside from a cold place because it regulates your temperature really well. And the hood is awesome! I am quite petite- 32B, size small usually, I could have worn the XS in this but I went for the S because it's nice to have it feel a little roomier and also have more room for whatever you wear underneath. I have the purple and I love the color!

It is warm and very light. The cut is nice too. But if you prefer to a sweater that does not look puffy, the Nano puff sweater would be a smart choice, - just my opinion. Overall, it is a wonderful down sweater, and easy to carry with at those hiking adventures.

This is a light feeling jacket that moves with me. It never gets in the way and you would forget it's there until you put up the hood. The moment the down hood goes up I am so shielded from the wind and cold. The bright turquoise blue is like sunlight on water. I love this jacket!

Perfect for what I need.
December 12, 2010

I needed this jacket for a few trips Ill be doing up to about 14,000ft elevation and its going to be perfect. I am 5'3" 122lbs and pretty small up top. The size small without layers underneath is roomy on me. Thinking I would wear this jacket around town and on the mtn I thought about sending it back for a xs but was afraid I wouldnt be able to fit as many layers underneath which is most important to me so I decided to keep it. I can fit a good baselayer, fleece, and a shell underneath, no problem. The shell fitting under was important to me so I could just throw my down on over everything without having to shed clothing and risk getting cold while stopped on the mtn. Nice jacket, great hood, love the grey color, love the cord cinches behind the hood and around the waist. Elastic around the wrists are perfect and it packs down sooo small! Nice jacket.

My husband had the non-hoody version of this jacket, and really liked it. I waited until there was a women's color that I liked and purchased the Feather grey. Love it! I love my jacket.
November 04, 2010

I had been needing a good winter jacket for quite some time. When I found this one, the down-fill and light weight both appealed to me. Upon receiving this jacket, I was not disappointed. It keeps me very warm without feeling bulky. The hood is especially nice for those cold and windy winter days, and fits snugly around your ears using the drawstring. I went for a larger fit so I could layer with it. I would usually wear a small, but the medium fits fine and I even wore it zipped up while fully pregnant.

February 05, 2010

Got this for my girlfriend for Christmas - here is her report: "I wear it everywhere - to work, around town, as an outer layer or under layer for skiing. It's warm when you need warmth, but doesn't ever make you feel overheated - the wonders of down. The fit is true to size and there is no extra bulk. Truly versatile and stylish." Now she wants the vest.

Amazing!

I needed something that was not to warm, yet blocks the wind on those chilly nights while I'm shooting weddings here in Central Oregon. This is the perfect fit for me. True to size, well made, very comfortable. I will purchase another!
