Description

There's much to see 14,000 feet up at the Chasm View bivy, including a vertigo-inducing panorama of the Diamond and alpenglow over the Rockies. There's also chilly air in any season, and that's where the Patagonia Down Sweater for Women comes in. It delivers minimal weight, superb compressibility and high-loft warmth. The ripstop shell (1.4-oz 22-denier) with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish does more than look sharp: this mid-layer insulator is tear-resistant, windproof and made from 100% all-recycled polyester. Details include top-quality 800-fill-power goose down, an updated fit and styling, quilted-through construction, two exterior zippered pockets and a stretch-mesh interior chest pocket that doubles as a zippered stuff sack with carabiner clip-in loop. The Women's Down Sweater is an ultralight jacket with highly compressible down insulation and a windproof shell for cold mountain pursuits.

Fabulous jacket!
April 02, 2012

I love this jacket! It is lightweight but warm and it packs up very small into its own pocket. As with everything Patagonia makes it is beautifully made and the fit is comfortable but also flattering. I always take it traveling (even packed it for Mexico this winter!) and it is just perfect to take the chill off in cool weather. For such a light weight garment it is surprisingly warm and toasty. I'm already worried that the style will disappear and thinking of getting a back-up. Don't hesitate. it's wonderful!

Stunning!
March 16, 2012

I love my down sweater. I had been eyeing this coat for about a year and finally broke down and bought it. I'm so glad I did. It is very light--not heavy on the shoulders like a lot of warm coats--but very cozy and warm. I have gotten so many complements wearing it to school ( I teach) and wearing it on the playground when I have recess duty.

The best jacket
March 10, 2012

I like my new jacket. I bought jacket in curacao color.I have been worn two times only whether it is amaizing. Light, cozy and warm. Moreover, this jacket fit me perfect. I am 1.7' and 159lb. However, sleeves just little bit too long, but not too much as usually to me. I hope,I will enjoy my new jacket.

Don't buy it in the orange color
March 10, 2012

I returned this item. The orange fabric showed through, the dark down feather filling, so it looked like the entire sweater had been washed with something black. Very undesirable look. I have the nano puff pullover in pink, and that one is wonderful, with no showing of the fill. Not sure if the difference is the filling or the color of the fabric. But would not recommend the down sweater at all, unless you don't care if it looks dirty. Highly recommend the nano puff.

Not a good color
February 17, 2012

I have the Down Sweater is the limited Edition silver from 2010 and I absolutely love it. I bought the Bougainvillia Down Swearer because I loved the pink. When I received it and tried it on it looked dirty due to the amount of dark feathers used in the down of the jacket. It fits great and wears great, but the color isn't good.

not flattering
January 30, 2012

I purchased this sweater, as well as the Patagonia hi loft down sweater, and I sent this one back. The fit is quite boxy and loose. It's not flattering at all. On the other hand, the hi loft sweater is awesome! It fits close to the body and is super cute on. Buy the hi loft version!

Love This Jacket/Sweater and Patagonia Generally
January 12, 2012

FIT: I am very petite (5'4 and wears p2) and the XS fits very good on the body (enough room for a tight fitting hoodie underneath but also looks good, not too big, with just a tee underneath). I have been wearing Patagonia for over 15 years and have only encountered once, or twice, when its XS was overall way too big. It is not the case with this sweater/jacket. However, even when the fit on the body is good, the length of the sleeves is always a bit long. Nevertheless, for a jacket, this is fine because I can use the extra fabric to cover my entire hand during times when I don't have a pair of gloves handy and need the extra coverage. Despite this, the look, with the cuffs at the wrist, is not compromised. WARMTH: With down insulation, I don't usually get too hot, but am warm enough to be comfortable. As a note, heat retention for any down jackets/vests are lost when the down gets wet (see below). WATER PROTECTION: I have not worn this jacket in the rain yet, but can comment on my experience with other Patagonia down products. With my other Patagonia down jackets, water protection is good as long as I don't wear it in heavy down pours for more than 15 minutes (light rain is ok). Once water gets through the fabric into the down, the down looses its ability to retain heat. CONSTRUCTION: I have not had this jacket long enough to comment but, again, can comment on my other experiences. I have a Patagonia down vest that is exactly the same as, or very similar to, this sweater/jacket, and throughout numerous and various wearings and washes, the threats are still very securely intact and it still looks the same as it did the first time I saw it (the fact that it is black may also be a reason why it still looks good and new). OTHER COMMENTS: Altrec ships fast! I got this product within 3 days! Thanks, Altrec! I will definitely do business with you again!

This is a perfect light weight down jacket that provides excellent warmth without being bulky. It layers well underneath a shell or can be worn as a solo outer layer. I'm 5'6" and weigh 135lb, and the small was a perfect fit. I never want to take it off!

Light, stylish and warm
January 03, 2012

I noticed this jacket was selling out in stores and on websites, and I now see why. This jacket is so light to carry around, it is warm, and it is SO cute! It is so cute that as I was crossing the street the other day, a guy stopped his car in the middle of the crosswalk to yell after me, "Nice jacket!" As I passed through a cashier in a cafe she said to me, "That is a gorgeous jacket. Gorgeous!" Patagonia designed this really well because it is very warm (800 fill) and not so puffy that it makes you look funny. In fact, I'm lucky I am able to get away with a size small. At 5' 1'' I have a small frame, yet I am large in the bust (C to D cup). This jacket fits well and allows me to layer. And it is SO light. Originally I purchased the Merrill Isadore parka in black size small. This also fits me well, and it too is very warm at only 650 fill. However, it is so heavy! I found this out when traveling. I was too hot to wear it on the airplane, and it was too bulky to stuff in my bag. I missed my chance to put it in the overhead and so I had this big thing on my lap the whole 6 hour flight! This would have never happened with the Patagonia down sweater, because it is so light and compress, and comes with its own built in stuff sack that is perfect for travel. I can also easily tie this jacket around my waist when hiking and warmed up. I love this jacket! It's also cute and stylish enough to wear in the office or casually on the weekends. I haven't washed it yet, but am trusting it will wash and dry easily. I also notice the fabric does not catch on things. Whereas some jackets (such as the Merrill Isadore) could get an easy snag, this one seems to repel objects that might catch such as rough fingernails and such. Thank goodness, because no one wants a ding in an expensive down jacket.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, looks great
Cons: Cost, so popular that you're not the only one wearing it

This down jacket is surprisingly lightweight for the warmth and comfort it provides. I love how stylish it looks and that I don't look or feel all puffed up like the Michelin Man when wearing it. December 05, 2011

love the look and feel of this jacket. ordered a size L and it's just a bit big in the chest but know that a size M would have been too small/tight. The length of the coat is great too as I like to have the small of my back covered - I'm 5'6". While it is an expensive item, it will last a lifetime I'm sure. Am excited for the colder weather so I can sport my new look.

The Perfect Gift!
December 01, 2011

I bought this as a gift and she loves it! ItÂ’s soft and incredibly warm for the minimal weight. The fit is true to size and it looks great. This one is purple and she gets compliments almost every time she wears it. ItÂ’s great to wear inside at home or around the office on chilly days. And itÂ’s a stand-alone jacket outside into the 30Â’s. When itÂ’s really cold or wet then it makes a nice layering piece under a more weatherproof jacket. Down isnÂ’t warm when itÂ’s wet, and this jacket isnÂ’t designed to be worn in extended wet conditions. ItÂ’s high quality, well designed, and makes the perfect gift! What girl wouldnÂ’t like to have one of these?

October 27, 2011

I got a great price on this jacket at Altrec and I love the jacket. It is warm and also does well in rainy conditions. I wore it in Denver's first snow storm of the year (October 25th, 2011) and paired it up with a goretex shell and was dry and warm through a whole day of walks and commutes in the snow. Great versatile piece
October 16, 2011

I purchased this jacket at the recommendation of a friend after moving to Southwestern Colorado; this is a great piece that can be used for many activities and functions and I highly recommend it. I am 5'6, 135lbs with a narrow chest and waist. I initially ordered a medium with the intent to have room for layering, but returned the item for a small which proved to be a much better fit. The waist is contoured for a feminine fit, but I find the shoulders & arms to be a bit roomier than I'd prefer. Please also be aware that the jacket hits right at the top of most pants, so don't expect this to always catch those exposed slivers of midriff! The fit affords plenty of flexibility, so it's a great piece for hiking and other activity where range of motion is key. This jacket is lightweight, compactable, and quite warm. Even slipping it on over just a bathing suit after stepping out of a hot tub, it immediately warms up and gets the job done. You need this jacket!

I have got this jacket with promp delivery, thanks to Altrec.com and luckly I can get the size to fit me well. i am 5.6" tall, 120 lbs and a small size fits me well that even you can put somthing inside the zip pocket and feel free. it is super light weight that I feel like I was buying some cottons when the package was received!!!The Amaranth color is so nice that it is out of my expect apart from just viewing it from the website. It is more likely a purple-pink color, a good match with the light blue zips. i just love it so much and highly commend for frequent traveller who wants a light and decent warm down jacket.

The back of this jacket is longer, it is great for sitting and being active. The sides are a little on the short side, but nothing that I can't get past. September 22, 2011

Love this down "jacket". I just stuff it in my daypack or backpack and go. I have been backpacking lots in the San Juan Mountains of colorado and don't need to carry as many layers as I used to because this jacket is great, light, and warm. Love the bright colors too. I wear a rain jacket over this "sweater" when the wind comes in or if it rains. Don't want to get it wet as I think that would be a mistake with down.

runs a bit short
September 19, 2011

LOVE this jacket & cant wait until it gets cold. Nothing wears like Patagonia & their colors are terrific this season, (especially the pink :) I bought this in a small because I usually wear a small in Patagonia...however, I found it quite short! (I am 5'7", 125lbs, if that helps). No matter how warm the jacket is, no one wants a cold belly, right? So I returned for a med which seems a bit roomy in shoulders/chest, but the length is much better. (BTW, when I called Patagonia to ask for size comparison to another jacket I own, I was told that this jacket is specifically cut a bit short because it is designed to wear under a shell which would attach to their ski pants. If longer, the "sweater would get in the way. Seems to make sense).

Very pleased!
August 01, 2011

I was thrilled to find last season's version on the outlet site. Having tried on the current version, it was too tight for me as it was tapered to make it more appealing for women. However, as a mature woman, these changes made it too tight in my bust and hip areas. This version is just perfect for those of us who need a little more room in these areas. The color is nicer too, as this is a warmer blue vs. the bright blue of the newer version.

Love, love, love the down sweater. In my fantasy winter universe, I would own several in different colors, one with a hood. They keep me toasty warm when it's very cold and yet vent well when unzipped if the sun comes out. Looking forward to the new colors for the 11/12 ski season!

This is the best "puffy coat" I have ever owned. It is amazingly warm without making me look like a Michelin man (or woman). It is so light, packs down so small, and it fits easily underneath a shell. It works great as a city jacket to wear out to dinner as well since it is fitted and flattering. I thought the sizing somewhat on the large side. I am 5'7" and 125 lbs and normally wear a small, but bought an xs in this jacket as I wanted it to be more fitted and the size small kind of hung on me. I also have long arms and even the xs arms are long enough, which is great.

Pros: Great design, flattering, warmth to weight ratio

It's so light down jacket, even lighter than my softshell jacket. At the same time, it could provide much warmth for me in winter. But I think it's more suitable for a middle layer inside a hardshell, as it 's not very durable. It 's very soft and I feel very comfy with it.

This down sweater is exactly what I was looking for. It meets all my criteria for where I live and what I do. I hike in the early mornings so I need warmth but I also need light weight . This sweater packs well into small compartments and pops out still looking great! The fit is perfect. I have two Patagonia in this style Brown and Amaranth . I've received numerous compliments both on the street and on the trails. They are a bit expensive for me, however the quality is unsurpassed and I haven't regretted it .It's worth the investment to feel good and look good!

Purple Pillow Sweater
April 29, 2011

I'm 5'4", 150 lbs and the ladies Large is a good fit. I had tried on and loved my brother's Men's Medium and I'm thrilled at the fashionable cut and style of my Women's Large. When asked about fit, I found the arm length to be as long as the Men's Medium, which I can accomodate. I refer to the sweater as a purple pillow, a purple down pillow, because when I wear it that's what I feel like I'm surrounded with. Soft, cushy, warm without being overly so, ducky down sweater. I feel chic when wearing it, as it accompanies well many styles of clothing, from skirts, to work pants and jeans.

Pros: Great design
