Very Disappointed
April 24, 2012
I ordered this Capilene top for a sailing trip, going by the Patagonia name and was very disappointed. While the color was very nice, the fit, especially the arms, wasn't that great. The arms were way too long and I had to roll them a lot. The quality of the material was also disappointing because it pulled on everything so eventually parts of the shirt were pulled and fuzzy. On top of that, it wasn't warm at all. I've bought Patagonia items before and have been very happy, but this one was really bad.
Super-duper top

This is not only lightweight, comfy-soft and warm--but not too warm--its fit is very feminine attractive. And the front neck zipper allows for temperature control. Can be worn under a sweater or alone. Just a great overall Patagonia purchase!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueWinter Weather Necessity
January 29, 2012
Patagonia consistently provides high quality clothing. You'll never go back to wearing long sleeve cotton shirts after you try this product. Their Capilene long underwear is a must when you live in the Northern United States!
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceFlattering, Warm Sweater Meets Cold Weather Needs
December 20, 2011
The sweater is flattering, fitting over my hips and smoothing over the top of my pants. I am a true size medium (5'11" with an avg length torso, 155) and have found the size medium to fit comfortably over an underlayer or two. Also, it's very versatile; I've worn it to run errands, hike and mountain climb, and plan to wear it later this season for skiing. It has been very comfortable as my only layer at 50 degrees F. My only drawback is that I have noticed a few pulls likely from contact with Velcro, and I wonder how it will wear over time. Overall though, I am pleased with the sweater and have already purchased a second one.
Pros: Performance, flatteringbreathable baselayer
November 02, 2011
This baselayer is not only thinner than I hope, but also a little slighter. The most feature is, when you are in a sweat after an exercise, it can keep your skin dry? So if you are in outdoor and cold weather, you won't get frozen?
Pros: PerformanceMuch larger than Summer Weight Capilene 3!
July 25, 2011
I have another half zip capilene 3 that I purchased last fall, when I ordered that one I waffled on a small and medium and we so glad I went with medium - it just fits! I ordered a medium this time around, and I was swimming in it. A small or even extra small would have been a much better fit. Maybe it has to do with the winter vs. summer line? The color was nice though, and as expected from Patagonia, the quality was great, just keep in mind the sizing when ordering.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of useSuper comfy baselayer
June 12, 2011
I really like this one, It's really warm, I'm between size so I ordered up and fits perfect, The only thing its get odor, I need to wash after 1 use. But I love, i bought different color so always I'm using my capilene at cold days
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat Shirt

Bought this shirt for my girl. She absolutely loves it!!!! It keeps her nice and dry while also keeping warm. The zipper is great cause you can open up to cool off.
Patagonia top
March 13, 2011
I ordered this top to use for winter outdoor activities, mostly cross-country skiing. I was looking for something that I would be able to keep my neck warm on really cold days. The zip allows for that kind of warmth on those trul y cold days, 0-20, but also good for warmer temps. The material is on the lighter side, so I put an under layer on along with a jacket. The fit is comfortably loose, to be able to layer, and the colors are great. I would recommend this as a good winter layering piece of clothing.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueAmazing Quality
March 01, 2011
I bought this shirt to use as a base layer, but also to wear with jeans during the weekend and it hasn't disappointed me. It is warm and comfortable and fits perfectly!
Great buy!
February 10, 2011
I have worn this zip t hiking, cycling, and even to church! It is cozy, a good fit (next time I will order a medium, and the best color! It washes easily by hand and drys rapidly. Plus it was a great deal.
Pros: Great valueVery comfortable, but not as fashionable
January 17, 2011
This is my 3rd capilene 3 half-zip and it is still extremely comfortable and breathable. Unfortunately, this one is a little longer and looser making it a bit baggy for my taste.
Pros: versatileFavorite Patagonia shirt!
April 26, 2010
I absolutely love this shirt! I usually wear a M and this fits true to size ( I'm 5'6" 145 lbs). The deep zip is really nice to vent as temps warm up or zip to the top to keep heat in. Great over a tank or capilene 1. Classic black goes with everything. This is my go to shirt when space is limited while traveling and camping.
Great product, awesome fit.
April 22, 2010
This baselayer is great, it has the perfect fit. It transitions from one activity to the next. Love the lightweight yet substantial fabric. Will continue to add more to my everyday wear.
best baselayer top
March 14, 2010
Warm, moisture-wicking, flattering, comfortable. Just perfect.
the perfect baselayer top
March 04, 2010
Lightweight, flattering, functional. Perfect as a base layer for skiing, keeps you warm and dry, and you are happy to look in the mirror when you put it on. Flawless.
continue to be in love with this shirt
March 03, 2010
This is my 5th Capilene zip neck. They continue to be what I live in for winter months. For those of us in cold climates they are perfect to layer over or fine to wear alone. Now I just need for Patagonia to come up with some new colors for next year.
Oh how I love this top!
March 02, 2010
I received this Capilene 3 zip-t about 2 weeks ago and wore it no less than 6 times. Okay, now it's hanging on the line after finally being washed. I've worn it skiing, around the house with yoga pants, running in cool weather and around town with jeans and a fleece. It looks great (its a little form-fitting), so much so that I wanted, had to make myself throw it in the laundry. Nice long length and long sleeves. I am fairly broad shouldered but small chested, usually wear a small in tops, and the small fits fine, maybe a little snug. I suggest you order a size up if you want a roomier fit.
Still the best around
February 28, 2010
i have gone through many generations of Capilene products. each one gets better. ordered this one for a friend who is now a fan too. comfortable cut/fit with the flat seams. they think about the one who is going to wear it
Great Fit and Look

It fits great, looks great, and very functional. I own 3 of them and I live in TX!
comfortable and flattering
January 05, 2010
I got this as a Christmas present for my sister-in-law. But I bought the M instead of L, so instead of going through the trouble of exchanging it I decided to wear it myself. I normally wear a S but the M fits me comfortably and it looks flattering when wore over jeans. I've also used it for running.
I love these shirts
December 29, 2009
Have worn Cap 3s for years for hiking, biking and out on gardening jobs. Great as a base layer for skiing; good to take along outdoors in summer for cooler moments. I like the new sleeker shape of the ones I just bought. Normally I would buy a Small size shirt, but I get Medium for more freedom of movement and because I sometimes use these as an "overshirt". Others might prefer their "normal" size for sleekness.
Warm, but smelly
October 24, 2009
Garment runs true to size. I ordered the "chocolate", but it's really more plummy/purply than I expected. I spend my winters fishing for lobster off the coast of Maine, and it's crucial to stay warm and dry. Capilene 3 has been an invaluable base layer. I really notice a difference on days the Caps are all dirty and I have to go with a cheaper poly-propylene. The colors and fit are flattering enough to wear about town. The only drawback is how much and how badly this stuff stinks. In a few hours you smell like Great Uncle Eddie's old polyester pantsuit. The funk comes on fast, so be wary if you're wearing it casually. Because of the odor, I've begun experimenting with wool.
This was replacement for one that was lost
September 15, 2009
I had this top before but lost it somewhere in France on a bike trip. It is a great top. I like to wear it over a sleeveless top when cycling and then remove it as the day warms up.
How fix is the woman?
August 27, 2009
I bought this shirt for underwear for cold season. It's really nice and warm for winter season. I strongly recommend to anyone for climbing and hiking in winter seasons. Upon purchasing this item I became a fan of Patagonia.
Worth every penny
July 25, 2009
Awesome. Perfect for winter running or everyday wear. I constantly get compliments so I bought another in a different color. I will buy more.

This shirt is the perfect weight for my trail running needs and will be the go-to layer for skiing this winter.
My favorite skiing undershirt

I just totally love this shirt. It is warm, lightweight and odor absorbent. I am overall Patagonia fan but this shirt really rock. Absolutely recommended.

May 01, 2009
this top fits true to size and very dependable. it kept me warm on the inca trail during freezing nights in the andes. now i can't travel without it.
Versatile and flattering
April 06, 2009
I have several of these as well as Cap 4 zip, Cap 2 and Cap 1. Cap 3 and 4 fit true to size, Cap 1 and 2 run a size larger. All show off curves and feel soft and feminine while performing like iron. Look great on the trail or in town. Shoreline blue somehow blends well with true blue as well as azure and turquoise shades.
Warm soft layering!
March 16, 2009
Great zip neck for going out of town or keeping you warm with thin layer. Never too hot and keeps me warm when the weather changes
LOVE
February 03, 2009
I bought this in black about two years ago and wear it ALL the time. The material seems impossible to wear out, although the letters did peel off after about 15 washings. It's great for any kind of layering, and it breathes really well. Fit is also pretty standard.
I love this zip neck.
January 19, 2008
It is warm and soft. Fits true to the sizing chart. I have it in 2 colors as I wear them so much.
Warm Layering
January 01, 2008
It is wonderfully versatile. The fit is perfect (just a touch snug), and the sleeve-length just right. Wicks well, looks good, keeps me warm when I need to be warm, and cools when I need to be cool.
FAVORITE CAPILENE PIECE
December 27, 2007
Very nice product. Lightweight yet warm. Can zip all the way up for a nice tight seal around the neck.

This is a big improvement over the old capilene underwear. The material is softer, and the fit is better. Excellent product!!
Patagonia Women's Capilene 3 Zip Neck
