Great light weight vest, just the thing for layering, not heavy or restrictive. A great patagonia product You do need to wear something over this vest because the material will pill.

Nice product for layering
January 28, 2012
Not the warmest fleece out there, but it's comfortable and it fits nicely. Would be good for layering as long as its not super cold on the slopes.
If you need something warm under a shell this may not be enough for you without another layer or two.

Good quality and style for an excellent
June 03, 2011
The Patagonia R1 Vest is a good product to wear for body core temperature maintenance on days that are less frigid and for me require a down vest.
I like the way it fits and the pockets are in convenient spots. Not at all bulky yet warm while otherwise sleek. Overall, a good product that I would buy again and recommend to others.

Versitile mid layer for spring and summer. When a puffy layer
is too much, this vest shines. Breathes and dries fast:) Amazing fabric design performs better than any fleece I have owned.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Cons: none

Though each Patagonia® product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, we can generalize our fit descriptions in four ways:
Formfitting: Conforms to the body's contours.
Slim Fit: Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.
Regular Fit: Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers.
Relaxed Fit: Drapes loosely on the body.
Classic Boy Fit: Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.
Anika Fit: Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).
