Description

Silky-soft Capilene® 1 is the lightest of all our technical baselayers. A master at managing moisture to keep you cool during active use in warm to sweltering conditions, it also helps protect from the sun and acts as an excellent quick-wicking baselayer beneath heftier Capilene® or wool insulation when the mercury plummets. Made from 100% post-consumer recycled (and 100% recyclable) Capilene® 1 polyester, with Gladiodor™ natural odor control. Made in USA. Common Threads Recycling ProgramResearch shows that the environmental impact of recycling worn-out Capilene base layers into new polyester fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. Taking into account that worn-out garments are diverted from trash incinerators, making new polyester fiber from recycled garments results in an energy savings of 76% and a CO2 emissions [greenhouse gasses] reduction of 71%, versus creating that fiber from new raw material. Capilene® Core Performance®Capilene base layers afford quick-drying, next-to-skin moisture management for all activities in all conditions ? from high-altitude bivies to sun-soaked water sports. great layer for warm weather sport
January 25, 2012

This is the first thinnest capilene I have ever purchased. Having been impressed with thicker versions like 3 and 4, I wanted the thinnest for summer outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. This lightest version seems to be perfect. As mentioned in some reviews, this won't be so versatile as middle range type like 2, capilene 1 still seems to do a lot of proper jobs. The graphic on the shirt is also cool and attractive. So far, I do not have a beef about this.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Capilene 1
July 15, 2011

Like a well-designed Italian automobile, you see no reason why a baselayer shouldnÂ’t possess the best in both form and function. The Patagonia MenÂ’s Capilene 1 Graphic Crew combines street-savvy graphics and breathable, wicking performance into one high-tech piece of outdoor wear. Besides being great for both your body and othersÂ’ eyes, this Capilene is easy on the planet; it is recyclable and made from 100% recycled polyester. A 15 UPF rating also helps keep you safe from nasty UV rays.

love patagonia capaline
April 08, 2011

This works great. I use it in the spring when im hiking and skiing corn, or road biking in the heat of summer it breaths and cools and keeps the sun off my arms so I dont need to put on lots of sunscreen. I would use this any time I think I might be hot and getting lots of sun. I also love the versatility for a wide variety of activities it works for and it feels like silk.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Great shirt

Extremely comfortable. Warm when it's cool and cool when it's warm.

best base layer out there
September 01, 2009

I love these shirts. perfect first layer for what I use them for - saltwater flyfishing. Light, silky, and very comfy. Dries quickly and, unlike other shirts of this type, doesn't have a weird odor after use. I've completely made the transition to synthetics while out on the water in my kayak, and Patagonia does synthetics best. The Capilene 1 is the best!
