Good quality
February 17, 2012
I can't comment on the durability since I've only used it a couple times so far, but I am definitely pleased with the purchase. It fits perfectly, the fabric is well-made, it covers more of my face/neck/ears than my previous band (which I loved, and used so much that I wore out the velcro after 3 years), plus the fabric is thinner, but seems to keep me just as warm. This is a good band for my morning jogs in a moderate climate. (Mostly lows in the 30s/40s F during the winter.)
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, PerformanceGreat, Flexible
February 15, 2012
bought this on sale a few weeks ago and used it for the first time this past weekend while going skiing. I was nervous that it was going to be too big for my head, but because it has the velcro in the back i was able to adjust and it fit perfectly, and DEFINITELY blocked the wind. I was wearing goggles also, so it rode up a little bit on the ears, but it was easy to just pull down, and for the most part it stayed put.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueonly ear band I found with velcro closure
January 26, 2012
This is the only ear band that I found with a velcro closure in back, which was important to me because when I have my hair up in a ponytail, it's a lot easier to put on and take off. I prefer headbands/earbands that aren't too tight. With the velcro closure, I can adjust how loose or tight the ear band is.
Pros: Ease of useFinally, an earband small enough for me
January 15, 2012
I can't tell you how difficult it has been to find an earband that isn't too loose for me. Not only does this one come in 3 sizes, but it also has an adjustable closure. I wore it today at a 5k fun run, with snow and a brisk breeze blowing. It worked perfectly. Because it needs to be snug to block the wind, the seam around the edge leaves an impression on your forehead but is comfortable nonetheless. I was so happy to find one that comes in a smaller-than-average size that I didn't care. I ordered the plum one, which actually is more magenta than it looked on my computer (very pretty color) and I might order another in black for all-purpose use.
Pros: Performance, comes in sizes!smart piece of gear!
November 01, 2011
This is nice piece of gear,it's windproof, warm, lightweight and practical with the velcro in the back, really smart, thank you OR! I have a big huneydew of a head and i wear the L XL and it fits perfect.great service altrec! Thanks!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueComfy head band

I have a fairly large noggin and the large fit it perfectly. This is a good in between type of head wear when it's too hot for a full hat but too cold to let your ears freeze. My only gripe (and it's a stylistic issue) is that my hair looks like complete mess when I wear it. But that's not important, it's warm, soft, and stops the wind. Like everyone else says it's a little hard to hear with it on, but that's to be expected. I wore it for 3 days while on a winter hike up the AT and it was nice. I'd sometimes wear a bandanna under it to offer my head some protection without the heat. It's so light that it can't hurt to bring it, just gives you options.
Pretty Good Product
January 12, 2011
I'd say my head is about average and I bought the MED in black last year. It definitely stops the wind from getting to your ears and keeps your head warm at the same time!! So it serves its purpose very well. Glad it has velcro so you can adjust the proper fit. Too tight and it gave me an ear ache. When it's just right, it stays in place pretty well.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of useKeeping my ears warm in Germany
December 08, 2010
The ear band does what is supposed to do - it blocks the wind off my ears. As long as my ears, hands, and feet are warm, I am fine being outside in the cold. I hate wearing stocking caps, watch caps, etc... because they always make my head itch - with an ear band I don't have that problem. I like the velcro adjustment in he back, so that I can get the size just right. One size definitey does not fit all - as many manufacturers seem to think. Overall this is an excellent product, and I plan to buy another one for my son. The one downside is that it definitely blocks out more sound than a regular ear band without the windstopper. So it is sometimes harder to hear what others are saying,or to hear people on bicycles comming up behind you on the sidewalk, etc.....
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, great fitGreat Fit!

I really like this and fits wonderful. I use it for running, backpacking and well just about everything that I will be cold at! I got one for my fiance also!
Cozy comfort for those morning bike rides or runs

Cold ears are eliminated with this fantistic item. Outdoor Research always builds a good product and this is no exception. If the temp drops, this is a must have. I am very happy with this Outdoor Research Ear Band. As usual, I received great service and prompt shipping from Altrec.com. Their customer service has proven to be much better than other online stores and I've always found the staff to be very knowledgable.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceOptimal ear band
April 07, 2010
The Velcro fastener is particularly convenient and useful. The material itself is soft with the advantage of being completely windproof and the band is wide and large enough for a larger head or hair style.
Adjustable Windstopper is Great!
March 09, 2010
I also have an older version of this OR windstopper, which is a heavier fleece. The lighter-weight material in this windstopper actually works just as well, and it's more comfortable. I really like the ability to put on/take off the windstopper without having to slide it over your head - like most windstoppers you will find. I looked everywhere locally for one of these, but in the end broke down and ordered it online.
3 in 1: Super warm, Perfect fit, and Looks great
January 23, 2010
Nicer than their old style, b/c you can adjust it w/ velcro closure in back. Nice wide band around ears completely cover ears. Windproof and REALLY SOFT material, too. Plus, colors are really nice/stylish!
Brilliant!

Got these for my girlfriend, said shes never had warmer ears. Besides the time I sat on her head.
perfect fit & really warm
December 17, 2009
This is an excellent ear band-keeps out the cold & is adjustable too. Because of the velcro closure, you get an absolute perfect fit for your head. All my prior headbands sit on a shelf - this is the one I always use.
My ears love'em
October 28, 2009

Perfect fit
September 18, 2009
I don't like how I look in a hat and so this works great. It fits perfect since it's adjustable and will keep my ears warm in the winter.

May 11, 2009
It was great for running when it was 35-45 degrees out (still want to wear something but a hat is too much). Love that it has the velcro adjustable fit.
Great
February 14, 2009
Comfortable and warm - and you can still hear what's going on around you. A must for cold weather bike riding. Doesn't interfere with the helmet
Fits great. No wind gets through and doesn't get too hot.
October 19, 2008
I have very sensitive ears. This ear band has been perfect. It doesn't allow wind to get through at all and fits perfectly. It allows for my hair to be up or down with it's adjustable velcro. I liked it so much I bought another one as a back up. It would be better if they came in purple though!
Just Right for Vigorous Activity
October 09, 2008
I use my OR Windstopper Ear Band underneath a climbing helmet, when running, and when shedding every fraction of an ounce I can think of for an ultralight trip. I've found it to be an ideal solution for keeping the ears protected without overheating.
Nice Product
May 29, 2008
Quite warm. Blocks wind effectively. Thin enough to be worn under a bicycle helmet.
Good job
May 19, 2008
I wear this band under my helmet each morning to commute to work with my bicycle and it does a very good job stopping wind noise. It s thin enough to go under the helmet.
Extremely Good Product
January 11, 2008
-Surprisingly warm -Blocks wind effectively -Lightweight -Adjustable -Only downside is that you need two hands to put it on your head
Bought some for gifts, too!
December 04, 2007
I wear this every morning when I walk my dog at 6 a.m., and don't need a hat -- it keeps my ears toasty warm and blocks any wind.
Love It!!!!
October 27, 2007
I have very short perky hair and I like to keep it that way! This band is great! I bought the Rose color-it is a deep muted rose-not gaudy-so it doesn't 'stand out'. I wear it running and I can't say enough good things about it! I get sore throats easily and covering my ears is a must. This band covers the ears and keeps the wind out!!!
Excellent product
September 29, 2007
Prior to buying this product I already had one of its kind. I liked the one I had so much that I bought lots of these for holiday gifts and some for me, ofcourse.
Outdoor Research: WindStopper Ear Band

An excellent piece of gear. Keeps the ears warm & is extremely lightweight. A must have if you are out hiking or running on those cold winter mornings.
Perfect!!!
January 29, 2007
Works great. My wife and I are not used to the cold, kept ears warm and toasty
perfect for those with ears sensitive to cold air
January 02, 2007
This earband fits snugly as you want it...covers the ears very well, stays in place, is nicely adjustable given the velcro in the back. I wear it running in the winter; I have no complaints at all about it as it blocks all wind from my ears and still allows for a very comfortable run in any conditions.
Unbelievable
November 06, 2006
I wore this hiking on a windy day. It was better than wearing my fleece hat. Did not get too hot. It did the job just fine.
Unbelievable
November 06, 2006
I was hiking on a windy day, instead of putting on my winter fleece hat to keep my ears warm, I put the Windstopper Ear Band on. It kept the wind out and also kept my ears warm. This was a great purchase.
Hot headed!
July 12, 2006
For those of us that suffer cold ears but hot heads, this windstopper really solves a major problem. There is little worse than over heating for the sake of avoiding ear aches. A thin balaclava provides extra warmth for the noggen if needed.
works great!
March 01, 2006
I use this with a bicycle helmet here in England and it really works great. It stops the cold wind really well
