Excellent
February 19, 2012

I was VERY hesitant to buy these, some reviews scared me away from them. I had no problem with them as they did the job they were meant for. They do run a little small and can be a little difficult to strap on if you've got larger boots but once they're on they keep your legs dry and very warm. I was surprised how comfortable they were and you don't have to keep pulling them up. I highly recommend these for any winter time activities.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
Cons: Cost, size runs small

Works Like It Should
December 05, 2011

Wore these on my trek to the Kilimanjaro summit and they worked very, very well. Good stuff as aways from OR. They were durable, kept my pants and sock clean/dry and easy to wash. The only negative I can provide is that you have to put them on a certain way/angle to make the buckle work which can be tiresome after a long day or when you aren't fully awake, yet. But I'd imagine you'd have to do that with any gators.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value
Cons: fastening process could be easier but no big deal

They looked solid out from the box. It has yet to let any snow through. Ive used them for cross country sking in deep snow. Ive hiked all day in them and been very comfortable, they breath well and don't make your legs uncomfortably warm like other gaiters Ive worn. Overall these are the best pair of gaiters Ive owned and I expect them to last many more seasons.

some misfortune
January 27, 2011

I bought these OR gaiters knowing they where a solid brand and knowing others who have OR gaiters. They seemed sturdy and worked great on my first weekend hiking/camping trip in the woods. Later on while inspecting my gaiters i noticed that at the top near the securing strap the seem started to tear and there is now a large hole in my gaiters. I had never washed them so that should answer any questions about damage due to washing machine. It seemed like an unlikely place for a tear but i think it was just due to a defective seam on this particular pair. That being said, I know people who have had OR gaiters for 4 or 5 years that have never had any problems with them. One last thing, the boot strap seems to be a little further back, or less centered, than i would like but it still served its purpose. Overall they worked great while they lasted.

Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Cons: Bad design
Durability: 4 / 5
Quality: 3 / 5

Excellent Value
January 27, 2011

These gaiters seem to be a steal for the price. Quality built and durable, they're definitely what I expected from OR. Just two things I'd like to point out for those fastidious internet gear shoppers. 1. These are totally velcro closure. If you can't stand velcro, especially long strips of velcro that need aligned and smoothed perfectly to seal out moisture, don't buy these. 2. I wear a size 14 boot and the XL's just barely fit me correctly. There's not much stretch around the bottom of these (unlike the Cascadia gaiters) so don't assume that there's any size wiggle room. Otherwise, if you're like me and the other OR gaiters are out of your price range, you won't be disappointed with these.

Perfect for All Your Winter Adventures
January 13, 2011

I bought these gaiters last year for snowshoeing. When I first took them out of the box I was impressed with how durable the fabric felt, and the full length Velcro closure is very aggressive. It has yet to let any snow through. Ive used them for snowshoeing as well as winter hiking and climbing in the cascades. Ive hiked all day in them and been very comfortable, they breath well and don't make your legs uncomfortably warm like other gaiters Ive worn. Overall these are the best pair of gaiters Ive owned and I expect them to last many more seasons.

Rocky Mountain High Gaiters
January 08, 2011

I bought these gaiters for my boyfriend. He really likes them because they are lightweight and breathable so his calves don't get too hot, but they keep him completely dry. They are also nice because they fit over his xc ski boots tight enough to keep snow out, and are big enough to fit over his Keens and also his work boots. The strap at the top goes as tight as you need it and is easy to adjust, so you don't have to worry about them falling down. He is 6' and 180 lbs, I bought the XL based on his shoe size (11)... they fit his big calves and have enough space for him to wear jeans without them being all bunched up and uncomfortable. The only complaint he has is that the velcro closure can be a bit of a pain to get on straight, so a pair with hooks/clasps may be better if you hate velcro.

Soild pair of gaiters, comfortable, and high quality. My only problem with them is that because they are nylon they do not hold up to briar bushes too well; the nylon begins to fray. I've done a lot of hiking in these, and they have held up very well otherwise.

good sturdy product
October 15, 2010

I bought a pair of these for a recent trek through the Rwandan jungles. They held up very well. They were thick enough to provide excellent protection without being overly bulky or heavy. Would definitely recommend.

Good Gaiters
January 15, 2010

I bought these to keep snow, mud, dirt and debris out of my boots and they do just that. I live and hike in the Appalachians, here trail conditions and weather varies a lot, but after a dozen hikes this winter my feet have stayed dry. Also, I was pleased to discover that brush and briars slip right off them.

Great Product
January 02, 2010

Received as a gift for Christmas. Tried them out on a hike this morning and they work GREAT! Adjusted easily to fit under my boots and the hook and strap at the top held them in place very well. Nice snug fit.

Good Product, Problems with Sizing
December 28, 2009

I really do like this product, but the leather strap should be a little longer for bulkier boots. Because the strap is too short, I cannot use the clip that attaches to the shoelace. This is a sizing issue, and maybe not so much the product. It is hard to guess the correct size when purchasing online, I wear a size 10 and I got the large because they were out of extra large. Maybe if I had gone with a size larger I wouldn't have this problem, but I am not sure. They still work well for keeping the snow out of my boots and keep me dry. They also keep my shins surprisingly warm. Overall, a pretty good investment for the price.

Very nice product
December 22, 2009

OR's usual high quality. Nice, snug fit with ample velcro. Keeps the snow out and that's the name of the gaiter game.

Great for the price
December 22, 2009

I live in snow country and these are great gaiters for the price. I would prefer a zipper closure instead of velcro, however the velcro seems to work fairly well so far.

Brad

Good quality for the dollar
December 22, 2009

Light duty and inexpensive gaiter. Fits snuggly over boot so no snow invades. Only issue is the cam lock system for the top closure, it does not always stay closed.

Snow defense
December 18, 2009

My husband delivers heating oil and propane. During the winter months, there are lots of customers who don't keep a path shoveled to their filler pipes and tanks. The gaiters do a great job of keeping the snow out of his boots. The design is perfect; especially the hook that goes around his boot laces to keep the gaiters tight against the foot of his boots. Buy these gaiters and tell winter snows to bring it on!!

Best Buy!
November 04, 2009

I've been looking everywhere for this! I wanted to wear my shoes longer into winter and these gaitors basically make my shoes into winter boots....amazing! I LOVE THEM!!

Good gaiters!
March 09, 2009

I used these on a yurt trip in 10" of fresh powder. The performance of the gear made for a very pleasant trip, snowshoeing through the woods.
