Description

Unlike some hiking companies, Outdoor Research didn't mess with a good design when they created their Men's Crocodiles Gaiter--a product based on their original X-Gaiter™. It's a durable and dependable waterproof coverage that keeps rain, mud and trail debris out of your socks and hiking boots. The lace hook on the front is double-riveted and the instep strap is a urethane-coated nylon construction that can easily be replaced or modified in the field. Cordura® nylon and coated packcloth reinforce the boot area while waterproof and breathable Taslan GORE-TEX® fabric helps keep your calves dry and comfortable. At the top of the Crocodiles Gaiter is a 3/4-inch wide webbing with a cam buckle top closure. These gaiters are comfortable enough to wear over bare legs with shorts, although most hikers and backpackers usually pair them with trail pants, rainwear or other backcountry clothing.

Great Product
April 03, 2012

Used these while doing some field work, very comfy, and they take massive abuse. I will never go anywhere without them. Along with a good pair of boots, you can easily cross streams or creeks and not take on water. Stickers seem to not attach to the fabric.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Superior Gaiter
March 10, 2012

I bought these gaiters for winter mountaineering, snowshoeing and ice climbing and they have been used many times for all of the above. The Gore-Tex®/Taslan® nylon uppers are waterproof and breathable and the lower panels of coated Cordura® nylon, lined with packcloth are durable and comfortable. The 2-inch wide hook and loop closure is really secure and allows for fit over different boots. I wear a size 10 men’s boots and the Large gaiter size works well.

Perfect width gaiter
January 30, 2012

I was looking for a high but narrow gaiter. I chose the men's due to the narrower cut. I am a woman, 5'4" with a athletic narrow calf, chose the small. These fit perfectly and are adjustable as well. Heavy enough for briars/brush but not so heavy you can't wear in the summer.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use

Quality!
January 19, 2012

I am 5' 9" and 145 lbs. I purchased size medium and they fit great. Very well made, hook and loop closure is very secure and the metal hook at the bottom clips onto the loop on my Columbia boots to keep them securely in place. They seem very waterproof and durable.

If there is a do all gaiter these are it. Gore-tex fabric that will take about anything you throw at it. I have had these in snow and rain and my legs have never been wet under them. The straps are very durable and adjust easily. They are also glove friendly and are easily adjustable on the fly.

Everything you could want
October 29, 2011

I used these backpacking in the adirondaks and on a winter hike up Mt. Washington. They did everything you want gaiters to do. They protected my boots and pants from crampons and get snow and scree out. While hiking in the adirondacks they get dirt and the muddy trail out of my boots as well. They are super strong and show no signs of wear. Only gaiter worth getting.

June 02, 2011

I have used the gaiters over my 10.5 Men's Merrell Moabs and the fit perfectly. I have used them on several hikes in the Adirondacks state park in NY as well as several day hikes in the area. They hold up very well. No mud or dirt or water has penetrated my boots. Gore-Tex makes a difference when it comes to breathing material.

Best Geiter !!
March 25, 2011

OR Crocodiles Gaiter is like a "crisply-pressed" material, so that very comfortable without cling damply to your leg especially in summer time trecking. GORETEX is also great advantage ! This is drill fabric and very tough. Great partner for my trecking always.

Awseome and Rugged protection
February 09, 2011

I purchase these after my last hike in the Big South Fork. It was a damp day and my pants got soaked. Since purchasing I never have that problem anymore. These gaiters are very durable, waterproof, easy to put on and absolutely bullet-proof. I never hike without them now. I also use them under a poncho when it rains.

Great purchase
January 20, 2011

I purchased these gaiters for my son who is an avid hiker. He spends a great deal of time in the NE woods. He typically encounters lots of brush, fallen trees, branches, etc. (Here in NE we also have "critters" that would love to latch on to clothing and snack on you later!) These gaiters are lightweight and easy to put on so are not cumbersome in any weather. The material is great and protects your lower leg from scratches and your clothing from snags and tears. (These gaiters also protect your skin from the aforementioned "critters" in warmer weather. While ticks are easy enough to pull off, deer ticks carrying Lyme disease are quite common here now.) While my son hasn't had any problems from them, the only upgrade to these gaiters would be leather bottom straps instead of the thick plastic they are currently made of. Overall, a great purchase that I would highly recommend!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Cons: plastic bottom strap

Awesome gaiter
November 16, 2010

As a Backpacker® Magazine's 1999 Editors' Choice Gold Award, There should be some advantages in it. But it's even better than I thought it would be after I got it. Firstly, its 3-layer Gore-Tex materials could prevent any wind or snow from my feet. Secondly, it is so durable, I don't fear it is scraped. Finally, Thanks to its materials, it 's so breathable and could be fitted with my boots very well.

November 12, 2010

My job requires me to be walking in the woods over rough terrain. These gaiters have held up wonderfully and have not torn or ripped due to sticks and rocks scraping against the side. I would highly recommend this product.

Top-Notch Product. Tough as nails.
August 13, 2010

Light, breathable, waterproof and durable. These all-season gaiters perform well across the board; in fact, better than expected. Worth the price.

Amazing product
August 12, 2010

These gaiters are outstanding! I will never buy anything but Crocodiles again. They are completely waterproof and very durable. Well worth the $$.

Would buy again
July 08, 2010

I used these on a 14 day hunting trip in Colorado during October and they worked great. Hardly any signs of wear. However once they get packed with mud they can be difficult to clean out.

Best gaiters
April 24, 2010

I am a woman, but got the Men's gaiters rather than the Women's because they are narrower and higher (right below my knee). These gaiters stay in place and never slip down on my calf. Nothing gets through them. Overall, these are the best gaiters I've ever worn.

Terrific, Terrific, Terrific!!
March 12, 2010

Had to admit that when my husband bought me a women's pair of these for Christmas I was less than thrilled, but then Iowa was hit with HUGE snow, and these gaiters were awesome! Would highly recommend these - durable and high quality!!

So Far So Good!
March 04, 2010

I have used these twice after my old faithful 20+ year gaiters gave out. Love the quality of the materials and design. So many improvements! OR has carefully thought-out the design of these. I am looking forward to seeing the test of time but the OR Infinite Guaranteed makes these unquestionably worth the price.

Exactly what I wanted
February 23, 2010

Perfect for snow shoeing. After looking at several options I believe these are one of the best quality gaiter's out there. I bought a pair for me and another for the wife. We both love them.

Great with snow
January 30, 2010

I haven't gotten to try these with mud yet but they were excellent for snow. I wore cotton for a test hike and it stayed completely dry. Would definitely recommend and buy again.

Work great for work!
January 20, 2010

Bought these for land surveying in the snow. Gaiters became popular in our office this winter, so I have been able to check these against other brands, and I'm most impressed with the Crocs, even for the price. Had to go with these to fit over my winter boots, as the other brands wouldn't fit. Ordered a size XL for a size 11 Rocky boot, and they fit perfectly.

effective and sturdy
January 15, 2010

Tested a pair from a friend on two winter treks before buying. Feet stayed warm, dry, and snow/ice free. Attaches sturdily to boots. If anything, the Velcro so strong they are difficult to remove.

The crocodiles gaiters are everything I expected abd more.
December 16, 2009

they are great with any shoe or boot that I have. I am very pleased with them. Thanks ALTREC

Awesome gaiters!
October 12, 2009

Really liked the fit of these gaiters. I wear a size 9 boot and the Large size was perfect for me. Very durable construction and really like the fact that the strap that goes under the arch of your boot can be replaced should the original ever wear out. Very pleased!

Fabulous!
August 31, 2009

These kept us warm and dry throughout our trip to Denali. I would definitely recommend them to others. They also saved us from the countless rocks that would have gotten into our boots..

Does the dirty job right!
July 07, 2009

NY high peaks can get messy and this bad boy kept me from loosing my boots in several sinkholes. It was easy to adjust, get on, and off, and they did not slip. The only reason its a four and not a five is that they are hard to clean mud out off. It takes a lot of scrubbing.

What do you want from gaiters? As far as I'm concerned, I just want to keep the snow out of my boots. These do the job admirably. They are quick and easy to put on and take off, and seem to be pretty breathable, too. The velcro closure looks like it might be a weak point, but it doesn't leak, and seems to be holding up well. And you can't argue with the convenience: this closure is way quicker than a zipper. I've had these for a long time and worn them on something like a hundred winter runs/hikes in the Wasatch, an they look as good as new. Still, it's nice to know they have an unlimited warranty.

very good product. shows excellent quality!
February 18, 2009

I bought the gaiters, took them to the mountains and hunted grouse 3 straight 8 hour days and they were great. Good comfort, great fit and worked like they should. I couldn't be happier.

Great OR gaiter
January 13, 2009

Purchased the OR gaiters in Dec. and used them for a week in the Mt. San antonio in Los Angeles wilderness backpacking. They were great. Easy to put on and off.Very comfortable. The weather was perfect, in the seventies and my legs stayed cool. Protected my legs from all the low brush. Also protected against mosquitoes and bees. Would recommend them to anyone who is going backpacking and skiing in the backcountry.

Great Gators, Very Durable, Highly Recommend.
January 10, 2009

Used these gators for 2 days in Northern Vermont while snowshoeing. They worked great, very durable, no leaks. The large velcro closer tab is very secure. I really enjoy the heavy duty leather boot strap. It is very strong and will stand up to repeated abuse. Best of all the leather strap is replacable, when damaged.

great
January 03, 2009

the crocodile gaiters are wonderful; they stay up, protect you from snow and mud and debris. And of course, keep you DRY. I would recomend this product!

First class materials--very well constructed
December 27, 2008

These gaiters should last forever. They are made of first class materials and very well put together. The Velcro is really tough. They are easy to put on and take off. The lace-clip does not hold well on my boots. The boot would need laces that extend farther towards the toe for the clip to hold, but the underfoot strap holds the gaiters in place without any problem. These are definitely top of the line gaiters.
