A must for snowwalkers!
April 08, 2012
Another item we don't think about till you get home with frozen or wet pants and the inside of your boots and socks are damp from snow occasionaly creeping inside. These gaiters are quick to put on and don't take up much room to store in the glove box for those spontaneous walks in fresh snow. Not only do they keep your pants dry but they also keep the snow out of your boots. I will be purchasing another pair as a loaner to spare my friends the same greef that I have put up with over the years.

After looking for gaiters for a time, I settled on Outdoor Research Cascadia Gaiters. Strange as it may seem to some folks, gaiters in the color black interested me as most of my outdoor gear is black. I wear black jeans not blue. My height is a little over five feet and my shoe size is men's 10 1/2. The XL was sizing I felt comfortable ordering and the fit is excellent and a tad flattering. The stirrup that rides in the arch of boot is made of some rugged stuff. All material used in the gaiter has already stood up to over a month of daily wear on utility rights-of-way. The fabric is durable and doesn't catch on briars. The gaiter is ruggedly designed to adjust only once and after that time they just simply slip on pre-adjusted. The velcro front closure holds well in all weather elements. Wearing these keeps the bottom of my pants dry and mud free. The Cascadia gaiters dry very quickly as well with no effort. The package mentioned a lifetime guarantee. I recently ordered two more pairs so that I may, in fact, have my own lifetime supply. Best workwear wardrobe piece next to good boots. Thanks Outdoor Research and Altrec. . .
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, available in preferred color blackCascadia Gaiters

These are my first gaiters so I am not an expert. I purchased these to help keep my legs dryer and add some protection from the brush I have to wade through to reach some of the waterfalls I photograph. They are easy to put on and give my legs the extra protection. I have experience with Gortex and depend on it to keep my feet dry and ventilated. These gaiters are Gortex and should do the same for my legs. The velcro fastener is easy to line up and the quick release buckles at the top work very well. I would recommend these to anyone.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat solution to wet pants

These seem to be very durable so far, and they've fixed my problem of having wet pants. The adjustable strap under the boot is excellent! The velcro on the front of the leg instead of the back (like other companies) makes them easy to get on and off. These are knee length, so the keep your legs from getting wet from tall grasses. I work as a wildlife biologist, so these are a must for my work. They do a wonderful job of keeping my legs dry from morning dew and wet vegetation from previous rain. A+ Well worth the money.
Pros: Great design, PerformanceGreat Product

Used last week. Kept water off from the damp ground. These were easier to get on and off than older pair. Draw string kept close to leg and comfortable for day.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityWell Done

Product works as expected (after research indicated these were the best). They are the best--and I can pick fly crud out of pepper. GoreTex is the only way to go. Works with heeled boots and military Bellevilles. Does not slip off boot or calf when walking or running. Of course, my lawyer told me to add that this review is only an opinion and not a rep or warranty!
Thin & Light!
December 31, 2010
Love them so far b/c they are thin and light! They do not slide down like my other gathers after wearing them for a few hours!
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of useCascadia Gaiters Rain, Mud, NP!!
October 20, 2010
Used on the NPT in the Adirondacks over 8 days, Held up with no problems, straps stayed in place and are very well made. The GORE-TEX Paclite worked excellent in rain, mud, muck. Legs & top of boots stayed stayed dry, even after going in muck over my knees. Overall fit was very good, So If your looking for a excellent pair of quality gaiters I would highly recommend. Also excellent service!

Received these gaitors and immediately put them on over my backpacking boots. I wear size 11 boots and the L fits perfectly. Snug fit around the ankle and heel. Very breathable. Looking forward to backpacking with them in September!
cascadia gaiters
February 18, 2010
these gaiters do the job...i have been using them with my atlas snowshoes to navigate since we've had 30+ inches of snow in northern Maryland. my feet and legs stay warm and dry making it be possible for me to stay outside for several hours at a time. i have a meaty calf and they are snug but most effective.
Great Item!

Love these! Awesome for hiking, snow excursions, wet weather, you name it. These keep my feet totally dry and are easy to use. Was skeptical about the velcro closure at first, but it works great! I do wish that the bottom clasp was located higher on the gaiter because it's a bit too close to the bottom of my boot when laced, but I highly recommend these for any outdoor excursion!
Great product, Width Too Small (Womens')
January 25, 2010
I loved the gaiters, they're just too small. My calves are 16 inches in circumference, and with jeans, make the calf area a little too snug. All other aspects of product & service were great, Also, priced $10-20 less than my local Campmor. In return process, rep. let me know that if I give a Gear Review, it can be worth 20% off. Thanks!
A Good Gaiter
October 02, 2009
I wear these gaiters during muddy days, they protect my legs and they are not subjected to the invasion of mud and rain, always keep my shoes dry. GTX paclite fabric is light and works well. I selected size L and my foot is 9.5.
very good

i have scrambled all over west Virginia in these gaiters from the seneca rocks, harpers ferry, to the ohio river near wheeling. countless times they have kept out all kinds of debree, snow, twigs, dirt, rain, and thorns. i love the cascadia gaiters.
Excellent Pair Of Gaiters
March 07, 2007
I have worn the Cascadia Gaiters on numerous cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trips in southeastern Idaho. The Cascadia are easy to put on and take off. They remain securely in place. I am very impressed with the Gore-Tex Paclite fabric. Although lightweight, it provides excellent moisture protection and breathes well.
Excellent Servicability in Afghanistan
December 28, 2006
Have used this pair for several months in Afghanistan over wildly variable terrain. I shredded the left one with my crampons but that was my fault. In fact the tough construction and materials most likely saved my leg on that screw-up of mine. The strap was cut on some very sharp rock in the Tora-Bora range but I fixed it easily with some duct-tape. These never let me down and the only problems were induced by my own abuse of the equipment. Excellent product that indured a horrendous testing during my missions. I appreciated the light weight when I had to pack them - and although I destroyed my pair - I would definately buy them again. These kicked butt in the wilds of Afghanistan from 49c heat in the south busting sagebrush up to my knees to the 18,000ft level in Nuristan Province busting snow to my waist. Great product - fair price - highly recommended!
