Description

The effectiveness of any fabric's DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish is maximized by proper cleaning. Tech Wash is a non-detergent, biodegradable cleaner that protects the water-repellent finish on fabrics by removing water-attracting dirt, contaminants and detergent residues. When you wash garments in Tech Wash, NIKWAX waterproofing treatments last twice as long as they will when you wash with detergent soap. The highly effective cleaning agents in Tech Wash and its ability to rinse residue-free improve the performance of virtually anything made of fabric, fleece or synthetic insulation.

Trusty Stand-by
February 12, 2012

Tech wash seems like something I should always have in my laundry room. My partner's rain coat was acting more like a sponge after 12 years of heavy use. After a Tech Wash wash and some time in the dryer the finish has been restored (although not to original condition - I didn't expect that, the coat has been through a lot!). I also threw in a vest with repellent finish and it feels like new. Love seeing the water bead up once again. One small bottle is also enough for multiple jobs (loads in the wash).

Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Works as described

This stuff does exactly what its supposed to...cleans. It's great because it does not break down the existing waterproofing yet get the stuff squeaky clean. Although, if you are looking to put some serious life back into your jacket, or whatever, I would follow up with the TX.Direct Wash-In or something of that sort.

Pros: Ease of use, Great value

Bring back the color to your ski gear
June 24, 2011

I am a city letter carrier in the Midwest and I was having problems with the color and water resistance of my rain gear set. I used Nikwax Tech Wash Fabric Care and Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-in Fabric Care and the results were much better than expected. It not only brought the color back, brighter and darker, but the rain gear was more water resistant than it had been in years!! Believe me it gets much use in the rain and cold and the Nikwax products worked great. I also am a skier and it is used on all my ski gear.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

After using the Tech Wash, I followed up with using the Nikwax TX Direct 2.0 Washin. The results were great on my gortex ski jacket! Clean, no residue and it looks and repels water like it's new.

This product does an excellent job of cleaning my technical gear, such as ski shells and ski pants. I also use Nikwax Down Wash for my down gear, and that works well, too.

I use this on my shells and fleeces. It does a great job getting any dirt out. It also does a nice job renewing the the waterproof properties of my rain gear.

December 16, 2010

Had a great experience washing all of my snowboarding garments with this soap. It got most of the dirt out of my jacket and made everything smell good again. I'd definitely suggest as an alternative to powdered detergents. The only thing I did differently from the instructions on the container was use much less than suggested. They say to use 3-4 ounces for every two garments you wash, and I ended up stretching that to 1-2 ounces per two garments. Might want to order a larger container if you have more than two peoples worth of gear to clean.

Nikwax Tech Wash Fabric Care
November 29, 2010

I have used this product on my technical shells with great satisfaction. It is a water based product which does not leave residue. I had an old Gore-Tex jacket, which when washed with this product, had its waterproofing renewed.

The only way to clean your drytop befrore applying new waterproofing. Great product. Works!

Great Product
July 20, 2010

If you want your water proof jackets to be like new this is the product to buy. I use it along with the Nikwax water proofing product and all my jacket shed water like they were brand new.

Did a great job on a filthy jacket!

Worked well
March 31, 2010

I rec'd the Nikwax right before a huge New England rainstorm...and was able to wash both my older jacket & rainpants. The Nikwax definitely improved the waterproofing of both articles of clothing. In a torrential downpour, some rain still managed to soak through the jacket, though. Overall, I am very happy with the product.

works as advertise
March 24, 2010

Seems to work as advertised, tested it on a 8 year old Gore-Tex jacket I got in the military. It put some life back it the jacket. Worked well enough I will use it on my newer technical Gore-Tex jacket without worry.

Always works great
March 12, 2010

I buy only expensive, high quality ski gear. I only use Tech Wash and have never been disappointed with the results.

January 18, 2010

Purchased the tech wash with the softshell proof wash. Both worked as advertised. No complaints.Was concerned that the tech wash would be to lite to get out some grease stains on my $249 softshell. With one was it was like new. Completely satisfied.

Fantastic product!
January 17, 2010

This is the only product I use to wash my ski jackets. Absolutely recommended for any kind of performance gear.

Good product
December 18, 2009

The jacket I used this product on had started to allow some water in during rainy hikes.Used the same jacket today after tech wash for a 4 mile run in the rain with very good results.

works excellent
October 27, 2009

Used it on my wife and my snowboard coat, haven't been in the snow yet, but have been in the rain and the water beaded up nicely and wiped right off with my hand to leave a nice dry coat. I am very happy so far.

I used this product to clean my boat canvas. I worked extremely well. The canvas had not been washed since spring and was very soiled.

Works like it should.

Amazing cleaner.
May 12, 2008

I live on a boat and have washed the canvas in other products and have found this to be the best environmentally friendly cleaner for the canvas. It is amazing how well it cleans. The canvas looks almost new. I also love that it is biodegradable and have recommeded it to several other boaters.

Works Great
March 10, 2008

This is our 3rd ski season of using Nikwax Tech Wash and TX Direct. It keeps our Gortex ski jackets and pants performing like new. We are sold on Nikwax products.

Don't Buy New Gear!
October 27, 2007

We were ready to buy new gear but our local sporting store told us about NikWax wash and the Tech for putting waterproofing back in our gear. Amazing! All of it like new.

Fabulous product
October 09, 2007

Each of their products is excellent.

~~~ IT WORKS ON REMOVING STAINS TOO ~~~
October 09, 2007
No kidding it really does. Why they don't market it this way beats me. I just pour a small amount in the lid, apply it to the stain and then wash it. So far, everything I've applied it to has come out. Even used it to take out grease stains on silk and it worked perfectly. They're missing the boat by not advertising this quality. Oh, and yes, it's great too on all my outdoor garb.
A must
Tech Wash is the best product for cleaning waterproof/breathable clothing and the like. TW is also recomended for washing clothing prior to retreating with TX direct...etc.
Better than Granger
March 05, 2007
I bought Granger's , recommended by Marmot, and Nikwax, recommended by Patagonia. It may be the original clothing, but the older Patagonia coat treated by Nikwax repels like new. The Marmot, washed by the Granger product doesn't.
Ryan Deppe
Good Product!
February 12, 2007
Nikwax did a good job (not the greatest on stubborn stains...recommend pre-treating for those)of getting rid of all the dirt and grime on my shells. As stated in other reviews, there is a bit of a chemical smell after coming out of the wash, but that quickly wears off. Made all jackets feel brand new again!!
Tech Wash
February 03, 2007
This is the best product I have found to maintain my expensive water proof garments and rain suits. Well worth the money.
Mary Frances Skala
Nikwax is fabulous!!
January 23, 2007
Be sure to not use hot water, as it really makes a lot of suds!
Good-to-go-wash
January 17, 2007
Outstanding wash for DWR finished wear. I've also used it for other items that should not be washed in other liquid detergents. Note, though, that the recommended amounts are quite excessive I've found -- less works just as well.
Awesome stuff -- kept my kids dry and warm
January 04, 2007
At a winter sledding camp I pitied the kids who were wet and cold. My kids never needed to come in because they were dry and warm.
works as advertised
December 05, 2006
This is the right product to use if you plan to apply a waterproof treatment after wash. While it doesn't seam to clean quite as well as laundry detergent, it doesn't leave behind the soap residue that takes away from the waterproofness.
I use this as a stain remover too. Seriously.
May 09, 2006
I've used this stuff for years and then was told by a local ski shop employee to try it on stains. It works. You just put a little on ANY stain, toss the garment into the wash and the stain is gone. Have no clue how it works and don't care...it just does.
Performs as Advertised--what more could you ask?
March 27, 2006
When my Covercraft car cover gets dirty, it looses some of its waterproofing capability. Wash with this stuff and rinse properly, it comes back. And if you ever have questions for the manufacurer in England, you will get a gracious and prompt reply.
A Must for any Household
March 17, 2006
Extremely effective on stains too. For pen marks and some paint smudges, just soak the area in tech wash for 15-20 mins prior to cleaning. I have recommended this product for countless tasks. The oil based (polymers) are more effective than enzyme cleaners for some synthetics. Most stain removing products cost the same-this product has double the use!
