I wear size XS in North Face pants and am 5 feet tall. I bought these in size small, which was perfect in overall size and in length (the bottoms are right at my ankles - didn't have to get them shortened). It's a high waist (hits my belly button). They easily fit under other pants on cold days. Super soft and comfortable. My only complaint is that for the black tights, all of the stitching is in white, which looks rather odd (zoom in on the picture for the black tights - they're not as obvious in the pink tights).
