Description

While most people assume that Mountain Hardwear's Wicked Lite Short Sleeve Tee for men is just for outdoor adventures, it's also a perfectly comfortable and practical choice for indoor workouts, too. This semi-fitted pullover features a Wicked Taper™ Mesh fabric that quickly wicks moisture away from your skin. The low-maintenance, fast-drying fabric is also ideal for camping and backpacking excursions where you need to rely on breezes or sunlight to finish your laundry chores. Mountain Hardwear used a flat-lock seam construction to minimize the chances of any uncomfortable chafing beneath bulky climbing, trekking and mountaineering backpacks. To keep things smelling fresh, the Wicked Taper™ Mesh fabric has a natural Chitosan antimicrobial finish that reduces odors that are sometimes retained in other workout and outdoor clothing.

Fit Tip

This shirt fits great! No annoying seems to deal with. This would be a great running shirt or as a under garment with layering. I'm 5'8" and were size large shirt. The shirt is a little long on me, but would fit best w/ taller guys 5'10" an up.

great shirt
May 11, 2012

Great shirt . . . comfortable with a pack or without, dries quickly, and is nice looking. Material may snag a little easily, but the same is true of most shirts of this type. I'm definitely pleased with its performance.

Awesome shirt

Very breathable shirt, wicks sweat really well during workouts. Sizing is a bit on the slim side, Mountain Hardwear seems to have a slimmer fit than North Face's corresponding wicked lite t shirt. Altrec customer service great as usual

Wicked Lite and Wicked Good!
April 27, 2012

As we say in Boston, this shirt is wicked Good, and one of the best wicking shirts you can get. I have quite an array of them and I really like how they worked over the years to get the weight down and still have a shirt that provides good coverage and that doesn't fall apart when put through it's paces. The newer versions hold up better as well, the old versions would fray or snag easy and the newer ones don't. The Wicked Lite Shirt is a great shirt for running or almost any sport activity. My only problems with this shirt is, I don't like them under a pack, they are not as comfortable as some other shirts I use for backpacking in hot weather. I also don't like them in direct sunlight if I am just sitting around as they seem to magnify the heat in some respects. But if you are running around they are fine and also work great under a windproof jacket or rain jacket if it's hot out. I also use these shirt for under a dress shirt if I am going to work and plan to go outside for lunch. I can peel off the dress shirt, run around outside, sweat and the wicking will dry it up and I can go back in put the dress shirt back on for the rest of the day. All in all, a very versatile top.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Cons: don't feel great under a pack.

MH Shirts are the best
March 04, 2012

I've tired several "performance" shirts and none seem to beat those from Mountain Hardware. I have 4 from MH and these are the ones I wear the most. Light, dries quickly, and keeps you dry too! Perfect training/running shirt. I'll be buying additional colors of this one!

Good shirt for the price
March 01, 2012

I liked the wicking capability of this shirt. I've used it in a few vigorous yoga classes and have hardly had any moisture build up. My only complaint would be that the fit was not very athletic. I am 6ft tall and about 180 lbs and I bought the LG. The fit was just a little to baggy for my liking. Other than that I like the shirt. It seems to be well made like all Mountain Hardware products and I would not hesitate to purchase this shirt.

nice shirt, runs small
December 29, 2011

This is a nice shirt, but I thought it ran small, especially in the shoulders. Based on other reviews and the size the model was wearing, I ordered a MD for my 5'10", 175 lb. husband who usually wears a MD in other workout shirts. It arrived and the shoulders looked very narrow. I ended up not giving it to him and will be returning it. The color (blue) and material are nice.

Favorite Running Tee
August 17, 2011

I've owned this shirt for two month, and have put in quite a few miles wearing it, training for a half marathon during the hottest summer the Midwest has experienced in most folk's memory. Sweat just seems to soak away to nothing. I know I'm sweating buckets and the shirt barely feels damp - I just feel the wind as I trot along. Doesn't hold stink too much either. Most comfortable shirt I've ran in yet. Cut and fit are nice - no bunching anywhere. I am 6'3", 215lbs, with a 46" chest and the XL fits the way I like it - semifitted around the chest and back, slightly loose around my sides. Nice shirt.

Excellent T-shirt
August 14, 2011

I like this shirt very much. The finish is much smoother and nicer than on the old Mtn Hardware shirts, and the fit and proportions are a little better. I think it will be less prone to snags than the old model, but every shirt I've had with a lightweight synthetic fabric is relatively susceptible to snags (much more so than cotton), so I think you need to plan to be careful in that regard (and keep it away from Velcro under any circumstances). The drape and hand of the fabric is good and the shirt is very presentable when the occasion calls for a reasonably good-looking t-shirt (I would not say that about the old one). Breathability and comfort are still excellent. Nice color. One of my favorite T-shirts.

July 11, 2011

I have the long-sleeve version of this shirt in small and love it. It fits well, breathes and the antimicrobial treatment works great. I like everything about the short-sleve version, except that it runs much smaller. I have to return the shirt because of the poor fit.

Great Synthetic Wicker
July 11, 2011

This T-shirt delivers as expected. It fits in the typical athletic sizing found in outdoor gear--the XL fit me (6'3", athletic 225lb) in the usual slim way--and was comfortable even under a pack for 40+ miles in Glacier NP; credit flat seams, good fit, and just the right amount of stretch. Of course it is cool, dries fast, and is of the quality you'd expect from a leading brand. Still, I give it only "Good" marks for comfort and durability because I find wool to beat synthetic in those respects and you always give up a bit of durability when you go this light and thin. The antimicrobial treatment helps defeat your stench but again wool outperforms synthetic in that area. Never-the-less, if you want the lightest, wicking-est t-shirt for those hot summer slogs this is the gear for you.

Excellent hiking shirt
July 05, 2011

I just spent a couple of weeks in southwestern Colorado, alternating between desert and mountain elevations. The Mountain Hardwear wicked lite tee shirt worked perfectly in both environments. It is ideal for hiking due to its light weight, wicking ability, fit, and always seeming to have a sense of freshness. The reasonble cost and color options are also pluses. I have tee shirts from several different outdoor companies and now the Mountain Hardwear wicked lite tee shirt is all that I buy.

Even better than before
June 26, 2011

The Wicked Lite has been my favorite summer shirt since it was introduced. It's extremely lite weight and therefore it's wicking properties allow it to dry very quickly. Well, the shirt has now gotten even better. It has those same properties but it now is more durable than it was prior. No more piling of the fabric under a pack! This is a major plus as the shirt will last even longer than it had already. I'm ordering more, get 'em while they last!

This was exactly the shirt I was looking for. The material is sort of a wicking mesh, really light and comfy. However, I wear a size medium for any of the North Face wicking t-shirts. I'm 5'11" 190, and ordered a medium and needed to return it for a large.

Long tail, form fit, good shirt.
June 20, 2011

It's more of a form fitting shirt but that's what i was looking for. The length is on the longer side so mixing that with the tighter fit it makes for a good running shirt. Based on the size guide i was L and ended up happy with that choice. Not sure i'd go for another one, but might grow on me after a few more runs.

Remarkably light
May 29, 2011

I recently exchanged this shirt for another moisture wicking shirt and was pleased when I tried this one on. The material is just as durable but seems to be a lot more "breathable". The only minor gripe I have with this shirt is the fact that the length is a tad long. Normally I would send a shirt back for this reason, but this shirt fits so well in every other sense that I chose to keep it. The athletic fit of the shirt prevents the length of the shirt to be too noticeable because it falls at your hips and bunches slightly (if the shirt were roomier it might wear like a nightshirt). In short, it is well worth the few extra dollars for a fine active shirt.

The very best wicked T I ever had
May 27, 2011

I am a big sweater. During working out, I can easily produce more than 2lb of sweat. This wicked T is the best wicked T I ever had -- light weighted and dried ultra fast. It is very comfortable as well; unlike some of the wicked T, after I sweat I felt the fabric is soaked in water and sticks to my skin. This Mountain Hardware wicked T is not like that; it does not produce the wet, sticky felling. It dries very fast as well; with good circulation of air (today the humidity about 70%), my soaked through fabric is dried within half an hour. Very pleased to this product, and going to by 2 more!

Great Summer shirt, runs small...
May 12, 2011

This shirt is ideal for extremely hot conditions. It is perhaps the lightest base layer I have ever tried, and compared to other ones, such a Patagonia's Cap1 it has a much less "plastic-like" feeling on the skin. Price is right too. It does however run small compared to other brands. I wear a small in both Patagonia and Arcteryx, but this one feels way more constraining (i.e. if I lift my arms the shirt feels too tight around my chest and in the armpits). However, the material feels very comfortable. Just remember: if in doubt, I would definitely size up.

Amazing Everyday Shirt
March 24, 2011

First and foremost, do not be deterred by the price tag. This shirt may be a bit pricey, but considering its quality and comfort, the price point is perfect. COMFORT: I got to the point where I simply could not tolerate cotton t-shirts anymore. They are uncomfortable, wrinkly, and constraining, and left me searching for something else. So I bought this shirt to wear as an everyday shirt -- not necessarily for hiking, but a shirt that could be thrown on and would provide comfort and ventilation all day. The first time I put it on, I was amazed -- it actually does not even feel like you're putting a shirt on; it sort of glides on your body. And when I have it on, sometimes I forget i'm actually wearing a shirt -- that's how good the ventilation is. I hardly sweat in the shirt like I do in cotton t-shirts (and I'm a heavy sweater). With that said, the shirt fabric is shockingly THIN. Time will tell if the thinness will be detrimental to durability. SIZING: I ordered a size M in Black, and I'm 5'9". The fit was PERFECT. Perfect length, as well. Definitely do not go for a L unless you're pushing 6 feet or above. CONCLUSION: Amazing shirt for everyday wear. Very thin, well-ventilated, and comfortable. Washes very well. Time will tell if thinness of fabric will be a problem.

This is my "go to" - nice styling, and super comfortable and lightweight, like it's almost not there. XL fits me well (6' 210lbs).
