multi functional boots
May 07, 2012

I havn't tryed them yet under extreme conditions, but they fit perfect. They keep my feet warm and dry. They look great. I use them to ride my bike. I would recommend these boots to any one who works a lot outside.

Great water proof boots!
February 11, 2012

I have had the older version of these boots and the bottom lasted a year until it was completely worn off and had to buy new ones. I wore them every day in harsh conditions but stood up great. I am hoping these new boots will do the same. They have a great water proof seal and great tread. The only thing I am worried about is the size it runs just a snug bigger then i hoped but if you ware thicker socks they will be fine. Great boots to ware in the snow or wet environments.

Pros: durable

LOVE THESE BOOTS
January 28, 2012

Last year we bought these boots in a department store and my husband loved these boots!! We went back this year to purchase another pair and they said they don't sell them anymore so we just bought a different pair of boots. Big mistake!!!We searched the internet and found a couple of web sites offering these boots! We went with this website because they offered a better price!! He loves these boots because they ARE waterproof, they have a nice arch, they are true to size and they last in his line of work!!

smart looking non clunky boot
January 23, 2012

I bought these boots to use at work. I am a security officer at a local hospital and i needed a boot that is waterproof and warm. We have frequent helicopter landings where we are required to stand out in all weather for an hour at a time. We also have to walk about 5 miles a day inside using only the staircases. I did not want a real heavy boot so I chose the Merrell. So far so good today was the first day I wore them in snow and slush, feet stayed crispy warm. Hope it lasts.

Pros: cood looking
Cons: not black enough in color for security duty

uncomfortable boots
December 26, 2011

After reading all the great reviews on this boot, I was excited to get my new boots in the mail, but sorely disappointed by the stiff and uncomfortable feel--although it fit well--around the lower shin above the ankle. Another reviewer had said that these boots were uncomfortably stiff and felt like "Frankenstein" boots, and that's what they felt like to me. To be more specific, it felt like I was being jabbed in the lower shin--above the ankle--every time I leaned forward over the boot (while walking). Interestingly, I tried on the Merrell Isotherm 8 Waterproof boots--which got a poorer review overall, but they fit well and were very comfortable to walk and stand in. Go figure. My vote is for the Isotherm 8's over the Thermo 6's. They may be heavier, but are much more comfortable.

Cons: uncomfortable above the ankle

Happy with 'em
December 21, 2011

I've only worn them twice, but they seem to be very warm and for the most part very comfortable with the fit being correct. It was 25 degrees and my feet stayed warm. I haven't worn them in water yet so I can't comment on the waterproof part. The only reason I gave them 4 stars and not 5 is because they do tend to make my ankles a bit sore. I think that will go away after I wear them some more. Over all I'm happy and would purchase another pair without hesitation.

Pros: correct fit, warm, comfortable
Cons: makes my ankles slightly sore

Toastie feet
October 04, 2011

I tried these boots on and they felt true to size and very comfy. They seem like they are going to be very warm come winter. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because it's only October in NC., not really testing them yet.

Great boots, order full size larger
March 31, 2011

Bought these shoes for my father so that he could take the dog out during inclement weather. They are excellent quality; my father reports that they are as waterproof as the description suggests and walking in them is a pleasure. The only downside, as the review title suggests, is that if you normally wear a size 10 - be sure to order size 11. Altrec is great for exchanges (and this is a boon for sure). The other issue he speaks of, and this is a matter of perspective (quite literally), is that the sole is quite tall and that takes a little getting used to. I think that's the nature of boots in general and an advantage in keeping your foot out of the muck, but if fear of heights is a big issue take notice.

Thermal 6
March 20, 2011

i was looking for a pair of insulated, waterproof, hikers with aggressive treads that would grip well in snow without the look and poor fit of a boot. The Thermal 6 did not disappoint. This winter i spent many hours out in the cold at 0 to-10 temperatures taking landscape photos out in the field and these winter hikers did very well keeping feet very warm and totally dry. However, long walks on paved or compacted gravel surfaces were tiring on my feet most likely due to the deep aggressive tread pattern. For this reason i only wear them when Im out shooting when my plan call for treks over soft surfaces (grassy trails, sand, dirt, snow) otherwise the Thermal 6 look great and keep your feet warm and dry.

February 20, 2011

Searched your site and others and went with this boot. Also looked at them at a local dealer.Thet didn't have my size so placed an order online.Really liked the look of these boots and the great reviews they had been given. After wearing them for a period developed very sore ankles. No give to these boots.Very stiff to walk in.Felt like I was wearing "Frankenstein" boots and walking like him.Hoping over next few months they become more comfortable.Otherwise may look to returning them.

Great Boot!
January 21, 2011

Purchased the size 15 boots. Perfect fit/comfort right out of the box. Kept my feet comfortable and dry but not hot despite winter hiking all day. Didn't need heavy socks, nice and warm but not hot/sweaty... Comfortable! They seem durable but I've only used them 3-4 times but so far, excellent! If I had to be picky... The laces seem to loosen on their own frequently and need to be re-tightened. Not sure if it's me or because they are new but I think a different lace would eliminate the issues. Overall GREAT BOOT!!! I'm very happy with my choice!

No so waterproof as expected!
December 10, 2010

Described as: "A highly functional bad-weather boot in a practical and popular height that's suitable for hiking, sledding or snowshoeing." I strongly disagree with the bad- weather, sledding and definitely snowshoeing. My boyfriend and I both deliver packages for a living so we were looking for comfort, durability and most important waterproof. I purchased these boots for him and I also got a similar pair for myself in womenÂ’s. Since the sidewalks are icy we tend to walk more in the snow, after about 4 hrs the boots started to let the moisture through, and I know exactly there its coming in...on top off the boots where the rubber part ends and the fabric starts. I have the same problem with my boots, at the end of the day our socks were wet and our feet were freezing. We kind of fixed the problem by putting plastic bags on our feet before we put the boots on but thatÂ’s not good either because our feet canÂ’t breathe. Other then the moisture problem, the boots are VERY comfortable and so far seem very durable.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use
Cons: Bad design
Comfort: 4 / 5

Going to the ski hill boots!
December 06, 2010

I purchased these boots specifically to wear to the ski hill. My goal was have a a pair of boots that would Be: A. Waterproof B. Warm C. Cormfortable The boots would do these three things reguardless of the conditions....bitter cold, deep snow, wet slushy snow or even wet cold mud ( For those of us who hike to the snow in the spring ). I can say they work great in deep cold snow and it looks like they are sturdy boots that are going to last. I would not plan on using these for your next summer hiking trip they will be to warm, but excellent boots for winter!

Warm and dry at last
December 02, 2010

The Isotherm 6 is the answer to my long search for warm and dry in freezing, rainy, snowy conditions. I use them for backpacking in the North Cascades and so far have stayed warm and dry without being too warm. I wear waterproof gaiters which go on the boots very easily to prevent water and snow coming over the tops. The boots seemed a little wide for my narrow foot when I first put them on, but as I hiked they became very comfortable. They seem durable, but I've only had them for a few months. Another benefit is that my microspikes fit my size 13 boots very well.

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

GREAT BOOTS!!
March 22, 2010

After reading all the reviews on these boots, I was sure they were all too good to be true - nope!! These are super warm and dry in the elements, but not too hot. Perfect for hiking in bad weather (or not), snowshoeing, or just wearing around town. Anyone will enjoy these boots in any situation.

Definitely a Winter Boot
March 12, 2010

I like the boot. It looks good and I bought it because we got a lot of snow this year and I needed a new pair. They are also light. Of course, it looks like the winter is over, so I can't say yet how they are in terms of warmth and protection. Just so you know, my uses for these boots are/would be: shoveling snow, clearing the cars off, taking the kids sledding, running to the supermarket early in the morning or late at night during bad weather. I live a very suburban lifestyle. Maybe someday, I'll actually go hiking. In terms of looks, however, these are definitely winter boots/work boots, and wouldn't be appropriate with dress pants or casual slacks. They will look better with jeans (on snow days) and snow pants. I will keep these boots, because they do look good and I anticipate that they will do the job I need them to do. Please note, the pair that I received was black and grey--the grey was from the brand label on the ankel to the top.

Top Notch
February 06, 2010

These boots are first rate. They're comfortable, supportive, light weight, warm and dry. From tromping through the slush during maple sugaring to hiking on slippery trails in mud and rain, they've been superb. A top choice for inclement weather footwear.

Very nice
January 19, 2010

Nice boots, very warm in the cold and snow yet not overly hot indoors. They keep my feet very dry and warm all day.

Good Buy

Very comfortable and stylish
January 16, 2010

I love these boots. The first time I wore them to work, people are asking me were I got them and many compliments. Looks good, but what makes it worth it is the combination of comfort and durability. Bought two pairs.

A MUST HAVE.I JUST PURCHASE THIS BOOTS FOR MY HUSBAND AND I GAVE HIM BEFORE XMAS BECAUSE HE WAS IN NEED....OH MY LORD HE LOVED IT AND ASK ME TO SEE IF THEY HAD AN ALL BLACK BOOTS FOR HIM TO USE AT WORK. THIS ONE HAS A BIT OF GRAY IN BETWEEN AND NOT ALLOWED AT HIS JOB. BUT IT'S WARM, FITS PERFECT AND HAS REALLY GREAT GRIPS. A MUST HAVE IN SNOW WHICH WE JUST HAD OUR FIRST SNOW STORM AND HE WORE THEM AND MUST SAY HE DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE THEM OFF AT ALL.

great all around winter boot
December 02, 2009

Bought this boot for snow shoeing. It is very warm, light, and comfortable. It was easy to use with my Atlas shoes and gators. Little did I know that I would end up using these for trekking about town and on walking trails. What a multipurpose boot!

Great Boot!
April 27, 2009

I ordered my husband a second pair just after a month of getting his first pair. He says they are totally waterproof and are so comfortable. He also says it's the best boot he has ever had. A

Outstanding Winter Boot
January 16, 2009

Very warm in all conditions and a very comfortable boot. I walked the dogs last night at -14 degrees and was perfectly comfortable. I have had the dogs in the woods for well over an hour at around 30 degrees in moderate snow and my feet were comfortable and warm throughout. Great for everything from sidewalks to rugged off-trail. I'm a little concerned that the hook and lace system may wear the laces out prematurely, but otherwise they are well made and look extremely durable. Very highly recommended. I can't imagine needing anything else in a winter boot for moderate use in any temperature.

have been wearing these boots for a couple of days now with no complaints. they fit great, are very warm and have alot of traction on the sole. would highly recommend.

Fine Boot But No Ankle Support
November 29, 2008

Lightweight, good construction, great traction and seemingly warm enough (haven't worn them in the snow yet) but impossible to keep tied and the tongue/lace design allows for almost no ankle support.

excellent performance
September 17, 2008

I wore these for the first time (out of the box) in the CO. Rockies & did a 10 mile hike @ 10,000 feet... I can only say one word - amazing!!!

A light mountaineering boot
January 30, 2008

This boot can be used as a single day mountaineering. it is really rugged, warm, and gives you an excellent grip not just on ice and snow but also on wet rock. Does well with wet mud too. It is tough to kick steps in the snow as well. Really a all purpose snow boot. But man does it really keep you warm. Don't even think of using it if the temp is above 32.

great boots!
January 16, 2008

when i first saw these boots when I took them out of the box I was amazed!! just looking at the grip on the bottom I knew this would grip to rocks and gravel on the trail. It has great traction and comfort I recommend these to all!

Saved my Feet
December 08, 2007

Very 1st use was yesterday. Ohio in December right after a couple inches of snow and right before a really good rain. I put 10 miles on these bad boys through moderately difficult trail through mud, snow, rain. Feet never got wet, feet never got cold, good traction too. I recommend.

October 14, 2007

I GOT THESE BOOTS FOR MY HUSBAND FOR OUR TRIP TO NEW YORK. HE HASN'T WORN THEM IN THE SNOW YET, BUT HE HAS WORN THEM IN THE RAIN AND HE IS VERY HAPPY WITH THEM. HE SAID THAT THEY ARE THE MOST COMFORTABLE PAIR OF BOOTS THAT HE HAS EVER WORN, THEY KEEP YOUR FEET VERY DRY.ALSO YOU MIGHT WANT TO GO 1/2 SIZE UP BECAUSE I HAD TO DUE TO THE PADDING.

Awesome Boots
October 09, 2007

These boots exceeded my expectations completely. I took them out on the Superior Hiking Trail in Two Harbors, Minnesota, in October. It was cold and rainy. The trail was very wet and muddy, as well as filled with roots, rocks, and other hidden obstacles. The boots handled the trail with ease. No break-in period. They just rocked from the get go. I put these boots through hell and my feet never got wet or cold. Highly recommended.

MERRELL..These slippers, oops!, BOOTS are the bomb!!!!! MERRELL
May 02, 2007

I can not put into words how wonderful these boots are! (I, of course ordered the WOMAN's boot) I opened the box, put the left boot on and went "AAAH". I was so excited that my husband and children ran downstairs to find out what was going on. I honestly would classify this 'BOOT' as an outdoor 'SLIPPER'. I am 47 yrs old and would rather wear flip-flops than an uncomfortable shoe! I have had the misfortune of buying many different Name Brand shoes/boots that did not fit properly, nor perform...of course I eventually put the right one on and went to my Cub Scout meeting! (I am a Cub Scout Leader) They are soooo comfortable!! (no mole skin needed) I highly recommend these boots and am going to, if I can, order another pair!!! P.S. for those of you out there that are Boy Scouts or know a Boy Scout; get them and yourself a pair! You won't have to worry about wet, cold feet ever again! I highly recommend these to the Scouts, as well as their Parents/Guardians/Adult Partners/Leaders/Guides, etc., because they are light weight and mud/waterproof! I wore mine for Takachsin and it was rainy and muddy; my feet were dry and toasty! Great arch and ankle support, too! Adjustible, that is all, I give them a 10!

Would buy again
February 26, 2007

Good shoe, have only had them for a few weeks but haven't had any problems. Seem to be good quality. Comfortable as long as the tongue is in the right place. Haven't been in snow but warm in 32 degree weather.
