Men's GORE-TEX Hiking Shoe
May 04, 2012

I wear these shoes daily. I really like the wide sizes that are available and find these shoes to be very comfortable for hiking. The waterproofing on the shoes were not as good as other merrell shoes I have purchased. I would say that they are water resistant but not necessarily water-proof. They are good for walking in the rain, but if you step into a large puddle, the water will soak through. Also, the sole of the shoe is seperating from the toe after having them for only seven months. For the price of these shoes, I think they should have lasted a little longer.

these sneakers are the best and the only that i am comfortable wearing all day long. i wear them at work in construction, when i go hiking, or to just hang out in. merrells are durable and look great too.

Great shoe.

Great shoe. These have become what i wear daily. I have not complaints with this shoe other then the laces. They come undone if you do not tie them tightly.

Cons: laces

Great warm weather shoe
February 21, 2012

Hopefully Merrell will continue to make this shoe or something similar. This is my fourth pair and I use them to work in the hot humid conditions of South Florida. They fit well right out of the box, light, and durable.

Pros: cool comfortable, durable
Cons: expensive, hard to find some colors

great price for quality shoe
February 05, 2012

I bought this for my boyfriend as a gift. He was very happy with the shoe, he mentioned the sole is great and they do not need time to work in. The price is great for a gore-tex shoe with a vibram sole. Would try some merrells for my self in the future.

great shoe!

One of the best pairs of shoes I have ever owned. Goretex lining is the best for keeping you dry and comfortable as well. These are the second pair I have bought!

I love this shoe. First of all, wide sizes are available which can be a challenge to find. They fit perfectly out of the box and there was no break in period. They felt comfortable from day 1. I have taken them hiking in northern Arizona, Rocky Mountain NP, and wandering through villages in West Africa. I use them mainly for day hiking, but have hiked some with my 35 lb son in the kiddie backpack. The traction is great for for rock scrambling as well. They have held up very well and look good too after a couple years. I would get another pair but they have held up so well, I don't need to yet. So, I got a pair for my wife, and she loves them as well.

Great product, very comfortable. This is the only place I can find wide sizes. Gortex keeps my feet comfortable and dry. No break in, were comfortable from the begining.

September 14, 2011

Climb Mt. Whitney yesterday with these shoes, they were excellent, providing great comfort and water proofing across the streams. The shoe has a great fit and are true to size. The only thing about these shoes is that you do need a small break-in period before taking any long serious hike, I believe its due to the gore tex lining. Once that is done the shoes are excellent and a great value. My feet where the only thing that didn't hurt after climb.

Pros: fit and comfort, water proofing, price for what you get
Cons: none

Nice, comfortable shoe.

Excellent all round casual hiking shoe
July 16, 2011

After wearing my last pair of Merrells into the ground, I have just bought two new pairs including the MOAB GTX and the Intercept - which I have been eyeing off for some time. Both are very different shoes, but I am extremely happy with both choices. As soon as I tried on the MOABs I knew these are going to be my preferred choice of all round casual hiking shoe for many years to come. The air cushion soles are an absolute winner, the construction is solid, and the shoe looks great with a pair of jeans on as well - it is not a stretch to wear them out on the town as well as on the trail. I bought the Beluga colour and am very happy with my choice. After you've worn and been converted to Merrells, is there really any other shoe you would buy? The only slight annoyance, as some others have noted, is the laces which easily come undone if not double tied.

Pros: air cushion sole, comfort, sturdy contstruction, stylish
Cons: laces

Love Merrell Moabs
April 29, 2011

I have become really fond of my Merrell Moab hiking shoes. They are extremely comfortable and light weight, while providing the support that I need on hikes. My only complaint is that the GTX versions seem uneven in their protection from water. One pair that I have continues to be reliable in this regard, while another one really provides little protection. Perhaps it's a question of age, as the latter one is much older and more used.

Great wearing shoes!
April 27, 2011

Originally purchased the Moab ventilators about a year ago and loved them. Decided to go with the Gore Tex so they'd be waterproof and like them even better. Very durable, comfortable shoes.

Pros: very comfortable, waterproof, comes in wide width
Cons: ?????

Best hiking shoe that I've owned. Great support and durability. The laces are annoying on these shoes. They did not stay tied and needed replaced after one year of use.

my third pair of moab gore-tex shoes
April 23, 2011

I am an active senior citizen, I do power walking(5miles,5days a week) and trail hiiking while wearing these shoes. They are light weight, comfortable, they keep my feet dry, they have great traction and the fit is super. My feet and body is not as tired like they were when I wore my running shoes. When I'm done with my work outs I wear these shoes for the rest of my day activities, they are very attractive. When I wear these shoes out I will definately buy my 4Th pair. I would highlty recommend this shoe---more bang for your buck. My shoe size is 8.5 wide, my height is 5'6" and weight is 165.

Pros: super price
Cons: none

Sized a tad bit small, had to exchange for the next half size larger. Very stable on uneven surfaces. Midsole stiffer in comparison to a trail 'running' shoe, but that adds to the stability. Have not yet tested the effectiveness of the Gore-tex.

As good as Advertised
February 18, 2011

I bought these shoes for walking my dog during the wet Nebraska winters. I have trouble finding shoes that provide good support without irritating my achilles tendon, these shoes do both. Very comfortable out of the box, and have kept my feet dry all winter. Bought these after wearing Merrell Moabs without the gore-tex, like them both, but these are a must for wet and wintry weather.

very comfortable
February 17, 2011

This shoe is very comfortable, light-weight, and has kept my feet dry. I am hard to fit, with a size 12EE and high instep, so need a high-volume shoe. I ordered 12W, which, depending on the make/model does not often work out. However, if you have a high volume foot, the wide is likely to fit. I have not used them extensively, but have stayed dry stepping in 1"-2" puddles and through several inches of snow. Traction is fine. One concern is support, but probably only because I am accustomed to backpacking boots.

Pros: Performance, fit
Comfort: 5 / 5
Durability: 5 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

Merrell GoreTex
February 14, 2011

These are the best casual shoes I have purchased. I wear them almost every day. Perfect fit and comfort level. I live in the city and rarely take out on the trail. But they are excellent on sidewalks and other hard surfaces. I ordered 9.5 wide. My weight is 170 lbs and am 5'7". Since I live in S. Calif and it doesn't rain much I haven't been able to test out the water proofing aspect. But I assume the GoreTex will be adequate for my needs. I've had them for two months now without any problems. I expect them to last for years.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Nice Shoes - Warm and Dry
February 14, 2011

These are some of the more durable everyday shoes I've worn. They are comfy walking all day and good for short trail runs, a bit heavy for longer distances. I've been wearing them for everyday for over a month now and they show almost no signs of wear on the sole or upper. Very pleased and impressed. Fit seems to be a roomy. My only minor complaint is styling... they could look better.

Pros: Build quality, waterproof
Cons: not super cool looking

Good water protection
February 13, 2011

I wore the Moab XCR on a hike to the Subway in Zion National Park and was pleased with the XCR fabric in keeping my feet dry. This hike is along and through a shallow stream. I could feel the cold of the water around my feet, but my feet stayed dry. The XCR fabric is noticeably cooler than the regular Gore-tex fabric that I've worn for years. My impression is that the XCR is as good and will actually provide greater comfort as my my feet tend to get a little overheated inside Gore-tex boots. XCR is also good at keeping the dust from going through the fabric. I wear sand gators along with the Moab XCR, and even on very sandy hikes, my feet are complete clean and dirt free at the end of the day. Good shoes, good fit.

Comfort: 5 / 5

Great product, 2nd pair I've bought
February 03, 2011

These are the 2nd pair that I've bought over the past 3 years. The only reason I bought the second pair was because they released a few new colors (not because they've been worn out). Both pairs are still in great shape with little or no wear and tear, and I wear them a lot. I would highly recommend these to anyone.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use

GORE-TEX XCR Hiking Shoe -Can you say SWEET!
January 20, 2011

I purchased these shoes over 6 months ago. They soon became my favorite shoe. These shoes are ultra light and still look new after 50+ days of use. I use them for trail running as well as freedom Fridays at work because they are stylish with a pair of jeans. I canÂ’t say enough about this shoe. They are waterproof yet cool as can be. I can say SWEET!!!!! Highly recommended.

Merrell Moab GoreTex
December 28, 2010

I purchased these shoes for my Dad because he lives in NYC; walks everywhere. Also, he often picks up at the last minute to go on a camping trip. I wanted to find him something versatile and waterproof to keep him comfortable in all instances. He absolutely loves them and pretty much refuses to wear anything else on his feet anymore. Another note, prior to purchasing these shoes, we had attended an event where Gore-Tex had a booth set up so you can test their shoes in the water. We put on their Gore-Tex shoes, stepped into a deep puddle of water and were blown away that our feet didn't get even a little wet. It was amazing, and these shoes perform the same way.

Pros: Great design, Great value, water proof

December 27, 2010

I loved my old Moab Ventilators, but was upset that I could not wear them during Mud Season. The Moab GTX are fantastic! Still the phenomenal fit, comfort and quality that I loved about my old pair, but with the additional waterproof feature. Gore-tex also allows my feet to breathe, which cuts down on the stink-factor. This is greatly appreciated by the wifey :-) Overall, HIGHLY recommended!

December 26, 2010

I had previously purchased a pair of Vasque Goretex from another site. Most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned. Found these at a local store and loved them and then found them on Altrec for 1/2 of what they were in the store. My only regret is I didn't buy 3 or 4 pair to keep for the future. The BEST pair of hiking shoes I've ever owned. Went outside today in 4 inches of snow (a blizzard in SC) and my feet never got wet. I LOVE GORTEX now. I'm sold on Goretex and sold on Merrells. I ordered a size 11 and they fit perfect - no break-in needed.

Great all around shoes
December 26, 2010

I have been wearing my Moab shoes for two weeks now and am quite pleased with the purchase. First, they are very attractive hiking shoes, far more stylish than previous ones I have owned. I ordered a size 10.5 and they seem true to size with plenty of room for those with wide feet like myself. I have tested the shoes once in a significant rainstorm and my feet were completely dry. Also, just because, I poured some water on the shoes and they repelled it nicely. I cannot comment on durability yet, but that is my only concern. I like the shoes so much I just hope they last. I have no reason to believe they won't be durable, but won't know for a few months.

Pros: Great design, Great value, attractive
Comfort: 4 / 5
Durability: 4 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

December 23, 2010

These shoes were extremely light and comfortable and the Gore-Tex worked perfectly, keeping my feet cool and dry. Based upon just that, they deserve a 5 star rating. However, I gave them a 4 star rating because they barely lasted a single summer of light hiking.
