Description

Lightweight and packable, the Marmot Women's PreCip Jacket makes a great raincoat for hiking, backpacking and adventure travel. Made from Marmot's proprietary PreCip® fabric, this thin rain shell is waterproof, windproof and breathable. It features a 2.5-layer polyurethane coating with ceramic particles to add durability and Dry Touch technology to reduce any clamminess against your skin. Marmot designed this rain jacket with PitZips to help vent heat when you warm up and Pack Pockets™ that are compatible with a backpack hip belt. The hood and cuffs have adjustable Velcro tabs for a custom fit and an elastic drawcord helps seal out cold wind. The hood packs away into the collar when you don't need it and the jacket rolls up into a tiny bundle to save pack space. A women-specific fit gives it a low profile silhouette and Angel-Wing Movement gives your arms a full range of motion without exposing your tummy. From a summer in the Sierras to a backpacking trip in Costa Rica, the Marmot PreCip Jacket for women will keep your pack weight down and keep you dry if you ever have to pull it out. Now, the hardest part is picking your favorite color: should you go with Grass to blend into the greenery of Costa Rica or Vivid Blue to match the alpine lakes of the Golden Trout Wilderness?

Great jacket!
April 12, 2012

I just received my rain jacket and I know I will wear this often. Years ago I purchased a similar jacket and it always kept me dry. I really like the dip in the back that covers you while bending or biking. The design of the shoulder and sleeves allows for ease of movement and layering. Unfortunately, becauseof my mid-section I will be returning my XL for an XXL. Love the Turtle Dove color!

Love this Jacket
March 21, 2012

I usually have a hard time finding jackets that are long enough. My torso is longer than most women and was really glad that this jacket was long enough and wasn't cut short like most jackets I own. I will definitely be looking into more marmot jackets in the future! I love the two tone green color in the jacket as well and the inside pockets are awesome as well as the pit zips for breath-ability while still keeping you dry! Can't wait to take this with me on all my hikes and adventures this summer!

Reliable Weather Protection
December 14, 2011

One certainly knows what they are getting with the Precip. This is the second time I've purchased one. The previous jacket took me through a rainy trip in AK and lasted a good 2 years of hiking/camping in rainy WA state. Mind you, it's not Goretex, but it is perfect for the walk or hike in light rain. The fit is a little boxy but I like the extra room for layering. The ivory color is true to the pic on the site. I'm looking forward to my rainy morning walks!

Pros: Ease of use, Great value
Cons: Wears quickly

Great protection, looks great too
October 25, 2011

My girlfriend was looking for a replacement rain jacket. It needed to have a good fit on her small frame, be very water resistant, allow for full motion and look good. She didn't want a piece that was too brightly colored or had that "performance" look. So, in short, all the features, but in a stylish package. The Precip, in black, fit the bill perfectly.

Lovely Rainjacket!
October 04, 2011

I needed a rain jacket that I could easily stash away in a bag and then whip out once it starts pouring outside and this is just that! I love how their "white" color is actually pearl with a soft very subtle sheen to it. I'm 5'5 and 120lbs and the small fits perfectly. In addition, I really appreciate the drawstring waist and the little soft cushioning behind the zipper that hits your chin when the jacket is zippered all the way up. Some ingenious thinking by the marmot designers! I'm not sad when it rains out cause then I get to wear this beautiful jacket!

Definitely Waterproof
August 08, 2011

I hate 'waterproof' jackets that repel water for a few minutes and then suddenly are no longer waterproof. This jacket, though, is the real deal. I acutally bought it a couple months ago, but hadn't really put it to the test. Well, recently, I stood in the pouring rain for 3+ hours, and stayed perfectly dry. I was constantly moving, picking up all sort of tree branches and debris, and this jacket proved it's durability. The pit-zips were a huge help in ventilation. For sizing purposes, I wanted it big enough that I could potentially fit a sweatshirt under it, since there is no insulation. I'm 5'6'', 130LBS and the medium is a great fit. The sleeves come down to my hands (hard to find, I have long arms), and the jacket reaches the top of my buttocks, providing plenty of coverage. It's slightly baggy, but it's not like I'm looking to win a fashion award, I just want to stay dry and comfortable.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Comfort: 4 / 5
Durability: 4 / 5

Its a good product from a high quality manufacture. Would recommend to anyone. I really like the color it matches my eyes and everyone comments on the jacket saying "nice jacket is it new." Had a Columbia for many years and decided it was time for something new. This jacket was the perfect choice for me especially considering the price it was a no-brainer! Does what it is supposed to do; its just a jacket! ; )

Good packable rain shell
March 20, 2011

There are many things I like about this jacket. It packs down small, is very light weight, keeps me dry and blocks the wind well! I have the purple color in size small; I am 5'1' and 120 it fits with enough room for a base layer and a fleece jacket underneath and I still can move unencumbered. The wrists have a good combination of elastic with Velcro tabs to adjust for a perfect fit. The cord at the hem is easy to tighten and loosen on the move. But I will discuss the things that may make you look at other choices. The hood stowing is not particularly useful, the rolling up and Velcro strap design does not secure it well, it still hangs down some and flops around. I can't do it with the jacket on. It is fairly breathable but it does get a bit clammy when I am exerting myself. The pit zips are huge which is great for aggressive heat dump, but it is a one zipper system from bicep down to almost your waist . The holes are just that and have no mesh to keep the material from flapping. I find it hard to close them completely back up without the zippers getting caught/jammed unless I take the jacket off. And even trying to close them part of the way with a pack on is a bit of an awkward struggle. A personal peeve is the swooshing noise water proof clothing makes. I know most of them do and this one is no exception but I am always looking for quiet clothing as I hike mostly in the woods of the National Parks in my area. This jacket is fairly noisy when moving. There are two external pockets, I prefer to have a third on the chest. Yes I would purchase this jacket again as it does what it is supposed to do well. But I will keep looking for the "perfect" rain shell that meets all my personal criteria.

Great Waterproof Jacket
March 16, 2011

I have yet to test this jacket in a true storm but it's held up very nicely so far though both the sunny days and the drizzly days. I ordered a large and it fits like expected: a little bigger than required but I wanted space to throw a sweater on underneath. It's a very comfortable jacket and fits a woman's body well. It does have the interesting interior sensation of all raincoat's which I found took a bit to get used to. However, that texture comes from the waterproof lining so it's necessary and not a problem. I ordered mine in Grape Berry and it's a lovely color. Very vibrant. And I love the rolldown hood and the ease of storing the jacket inside its mesh pocket. I'm very happy with my choice and I would recommend this jacket.

Wonderful Jacket
March 13, 2011

I hike 6 days a week so a waterproof rain jacket is important. Many others I have bought were a great disappointment. I am very happy with the performance. I tested it in the shower before we went out on a 2 day hike. The fit is true to size and I absolutely love the zip pockets. Wish I would have purchased this a long time ago.I am 5'5" and weigh 150lbs. I bought this a size up to accommodate other layers for warmth. The shape of the hood provides good coverage and my neck is protected. Staying dry is very important especially in cold weather.

Great Jacket, Great Price
March 12, 2011

I'm glad I decided to purchase the Marmot Women's Precip Jacket from Altrec.com. I looked at other rain jackets in this price range, and the features were not as detailed or technical as the Precip, which includes pitzips (making it a 3 season jacket), a rain hood (with a bill that you can tuck in if you're doing something more urban), and velcro adjustments where needed most. I would definitely recommend this jacket, but consider ordering a size up. This jacket is definitely cut for a woman's figure.

I love this jacket!
February 25, 2011

This jacket is exactly what I was looking for. RAINPROOF--I haven't tried it in a hurricane yet, but I imagine it will be just fine. comfortable, bright color to cheer you up in the rain, and fits perfectly. I'm a women's size 12, and bought a large. It is comfortably roomy with room for a fleece but fits nicely. All features--zippers, pockets, fit and function of hood are practical and thoughtful. A very good value for the price.

Great Jacket!
January 23, 2011

I bought this jacket for an all purpose raincoat/wind breaker. It fits great, acts as a perfect shell over a fleece, and always keeps me dry. Very light and comfortable, and easy to pack for trips. I'm 5'2, 105 pounds and the small fits perfectly.

I have found this jacket very, very helpful as a shell during spring soccer games where the weather is very unpredictable. Great for wind and rain protection. Absolutely would recommend this jacket to anyone.

Great Jacket
December 03, 2010

I got this jacket to wear around town on rainy days and it is one of my favorites. I am 5'4" and 137 lbs. and the small fits great. I have worn it on very rainy days and stay dry. Love it!!!

Great jacket!
December 02, 2010

Light weight, easy to store, plus a longer length in back to keep you dry. The red plum color is divine. Yet another great Marmot product.

Nice but Short sleeves
December 02, 2010

I love this jacket for how light it is.. great to roll up and throw in my pack! However, I'm only 5'7" and the sleeves only reach my forearms! I would look for a jacket that was better proportioned for my next purchase.

Great rain jacket
November 03, 2010

This is my second Marmot Precip Jacket. It has seen many miles on the hiking trail plus it is great for running errands on a rainy day. The hood is great as it keeps out the rain but still folds away when not needed. The velcro cuffs are a nice feature, as well. I like color, and there are many beautiful colors to choose from. This jacket is well worth the money.

Perfect Jacket and Perfect Color
October 09, 2010

I purchased the Grass/Olive Green combination color jacket for my spouse. She loves the color combination and the fit. She says it fits perfectly and has been wonderful for the Michigan fall weather climate. Shipping was very fast. Product arrived within a few days of order, even though we selected regular shipping.

Great Rain Jacket
September 03, 2010

Very lightweight, fabulous for the rain and fits a little bit big, so consider sizing down.

nice jacket, very lightweight
July 30, 2010

I like this jacket, it doesn't feel like a plastic coat. I bought it for summer rain showers, and it's great. I will say that it has a lot of velcro parts, so parts of it tend to stick to things.

I love this jacket
June 27, 2010

Bought this as a rain shell in a pinch and haven't found a better one. It stands up to abuse, and offers large pit zips for great ventilation. The storm hood is very adjustable. I have very long hair that I wear in a bun, the hood has enough room and the brim sits where it should with my hair up. It's very light weight, almost nothing in my hiking pack and very compressible. I love the pants too!

My third Marmot Precip jacket!!
June 20, 2010

This is the ultimate rain gear (I also have a pair of the pants). My previous jacket is too large after a huge weight loss so I "handed it down" to a family member to enjoy and purchased a new one in the luscious red plum color. I've worn my Marmot in heavy rain, and with the pants, I stay dry all over - even items in my pockets stay dry. I love the zippers for extra ventilation when it's a warm to hot day and raining in southern FL. I wouldn't think of changing brands due to this superb performance.

Great purchase!!
June 09, 2010

I went on a hike in the pouring rain with my friend. She was happy and dry, I was soggy, wet and miserable. She was wearing the Marmot Precip. I ordered one that day and now I am happy and dry too!!!

For the price- GREAT!
April 15, 2010

You can spend much more for a shell, but you won't get a better one for this price! It does everything a more expensive waterproof shell does, without all the bells and whistles. Nothing fancy here; but I didn't want "fancy". I wanted light weight for Spring-Fall rain gear, to fit over hiking and light layered clothes for work or hanging out. It fits the bill. Fit is true to size for layering over light clothes, not heavy Winter layers. I got the "Fire" color and it's super visible in case of emergency in the woods, and low light conditions when you need to be seen. Liked it so much, bought a "tamer" white color for everyday. Overall, great value for the money!

Amazing color and fit
April 11, 2010

I have yet to wear this jacket, but it fits perfectly. I'm 5'4 and 101 pounds and have a hard time finding jackets that don't make me look pregnant. This jacket is body-fitting but not too tight. The color (fire) is gorgeous. I also appreciate the arm pit zipper which will allow for ventilation on future hikes!

Great quality!
March 01, 2010

I bought my first Marmot jacket a few years back for a hiking trip. It was extremely durable and kept me completely dry in the soaking rain! I'm sure it would have lasted me for years, but I ended up giving it away to a cousin. I finally bought another one for myself, and I can't wait to wear it!

Great Rain Jacket
February 15, 2010

I bought the Precip jacket for my daughter and she is really happy with it, her cousin owns one also, and beyond it being a great rain jacket, they love the fact that it comes in so many colors. I also own a Marmot jacket and am very happy with it!

Travel necessity
November 26, 2009

My first time out with this jacket was a trip to the Cliff Walk in Newport, RI. It rained the entire day but this jacket performed like a champ. My pants were soaked but the rest of me stayed dry. The pit-zips really helped control body temp. The jacket fits well and packs easily. It's perfect for travel.
