Description

Fast hiking down the skyline ridge trail you tromp through the mud pits, caress the marsh edges, and step stone through the creek to meet your trail head destiny. When you're on a return deadline sometimes it demands running over obstacles in the Keen Women's Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots. Designed for wet conditions that you typically don't seek out, this waterproof and breathable hiking boot is lined with a KEEN.DRY membrane that creates a waterproof seal against the wetness, and still allows the vapor moisture from fast-moving-feet to escape when the situation calls upon it. As you pound the rock studded switch-backs its dual-density, removable metatomical footbed provides excellent arch support, cushion and natural flex to prevent foot burn. As you step on and bump into pesky stones, its ESS shank provides the torsional rigidity to manage the uneven terrain, while its patented toe bumper and rubber rand offers protection from the unseen obstacles. This hiking boots S3 heel support dials in shock, suspension, and stability to reduce the chance of a twisted ankle before blowing out onto the parking lot. With non-marking carbon rubber outsole with 4mm multi-directional lugs, the Keen Women's Targhee II Mid Hiking Boots not only provide excellent traction upon descent, but positive comments when you don't have time to change them out before your diner engagement. Life on the run is more fun!

Fit Tip

I wear a size 7 shoe, but like to wear 7.5 in running shoes and hiking boots for the extra toe space. I found this 7.5 shoe to fit a bit snug. I recommend sizing up.

LOVE LOVE LOVE MY BOOTS
March 22, 2012

Absolutely the best boot purchase I have made. I am a 55 year old occasional hiker. They fit true to size, did not need breaking in at all and immediately gave my ankles and knees more support. I would highly recommend this boot with no reservations!

Pros: everything
Cons: didn't order sooner

Great Boots
January 13, 2012

These are great boots. The fit is exactly what I would expect from Keen products. Appreciate the roomy toe box and the arch support. I purchased the Keen boot because I was looking for greater weather protection and warmth than I get with my regular Keen shoes, and discovered the ankle support of the boot gives greater stability on uneven terrain. I think the waterproof feature will be useful on early spring hikes. I am generally a size 9 and the fit is just right. I highly recommend them to other hikers.

Pros: fit, comfort, Performance, style

Very Nice Boot
January 12, 2012

This is an excellent hiking boot, but had to send it back due to shoe imperfections, the left shoe seemed to lean inwards and the outer side of the left shoe appeared to be not glued very well. Had to return them but purchased another one. They are so very good for your feet, don't need breaking in.

Pros: comfortable, good toe protection, adequate width, good ankle support
Cons: runs small

Most comfortable hiking boot I have ever had
January 09, 2012

Wow! Comfortable from the get go, wide toe box, good arch and ankle support, perfect fit. I feel like I could hike Mt. Everest -- ok, get real, how about Mt. Rainier. What's not to like?!

January 07, 2012

These are my second pair of these boots. They are comfortable out of the box from the first hike on. Great arch and shoe support. I find these so comfortable I wear them as walking shoes! Excellent service and shipping. When these wear out, I'll buy another pair.

Pros: comfortable

Great boots!
January 03, 2012

Bought these for my college age daughter for her birthday. She went to a local store to test fit another brand of boots, but she saw the Keen boots and really liked the way they looked and felt. She normally wears a size 9 but bought size 9.5 which is perfect with her thick hiking socks. She really liked the way the the rubber came up over the tip of the toe for more protection. Altrec had more color choices and a better price than the local store. Love the boots!

Pros: waterproof, really comfortable

Great Boots!
November 26, 2011

Love these boots! I've owned several brands and find these to be the most comfortable. Material isn't stiff like some brands and my feet appreciate the extra room across the toe area. I wear a size 6.5 - 7 in dress shoes but a 7.5 in running shoes. I found the 7 to be a perfect fit in the Keens!

I am a 63 year old woman, who is planning to finish the Coast2Coast hike across England next year. I now will be wearing my Keen Targhee mid hiking boots for the 90+ mile walk. I first tried these boot on in Nova Scotia, and came home to order a pair. I broke them in for a day or two wearing them around the house, and just last Saturday, did a 6 mile rugged hike in the Deem Wilderness. My feet were as comfortable at the end of my hike as at the very beginning. These are a true 'experience' to wear!!!! I've gone through several pair of Ecco, #the soles came completely off of the last pair in about an hour of hiking.# A pair of Vasque, and another pair from the local farm store. None of them can touch the Keen boots for support, comfort and quality! I have a small, #size 6# foot, built like a brick....SQUARE, and with an extremely high arch. In all, very difficult to fit properly. These boots did it all. !!!!!! Kathy from Columbus, IN

Not just for hiking!
October 02, 2011

I ordered this boot in the hopes that I could use it for more than just hiking. I have two little boys who I like to include on all my adventures, which entail more than just hiking! I am practically rabid over Keens, having been introduced to them this summer when I purchased their Venice H2 and Newport H2. I love the versatility of Keen and the quality of their product. I used to choose fashion over comfort with footwear, but a bad case of plantar fasciatis has cured me of that. I look for excuses to wear my Keens instead of any other shoe. So, when fall arrived and I needed a new fall shoe, I settled on the Targhee II because it received so many positive reviews and because the chocolate chip/living coral pair was just adorable! I utilized the Live Chat and some other reviewers' advice to discern that this boot could be used for other outdoor activities like walking in the neighborhood, trips to the park, trips around town, etc. Because of the outstanding comfort and stability the boot provides, coupled with a waterproof leather and the very cute colors it comes in, I give the Targhee an active mom's stamp of approval! So get out there and chase your little kids around! Leash up the dog and get moving! These boots make it extra fun!

All of the Keen shoes are great! I have the water sandals and wore them river rafting and loved them. Just bought the Hiking Boots and bought my normal shoe size. They were too small and I had to send them back. Make sure to go up a size on their Hiking Boots.

Great boots
September 10, 2011

These boots are great! I bought them just before doing a 5 day, 42 mile hike on moderate terrain. They performed wonderfully. I was worried about the lack of a good break-in period, but it really wasn't needed. I ordered a size 8 based on previous reviews (I usually wear a size 6.5 in shoes or a 7 in boots) and the fit is great, especially after a long day of hiking. I have bunions and it's difficult to find boots that don't irritate my toes, but these kept me pain-free! I haven't worn them out in heavy rain yet, but they've kept me dry walking through mud. They are also a very stylish pair of hiking boots (I bought the pair with coral colored straps).

Great Boots!!
September 08, 2011

I love these boots. I bought a 1/2 size larger, fit perfectly. I wore them on a 8 mile hike in various terrains and they were very comfortable. I got caught in a rain shower and my feet stayed dry. This is my second pair of Keen boots and I would highly recommend them to everyone who enjoys hiking.

Pros: good ankle support.
Cons: none

Comfortable Boot
September 03, 2011

I've been wearing these as everyday boots for several months now, and love them! They are extremely comfortable right out of the box - usually I go through several rounds of blisters with all of my shoes, but not with KEENs. I did a lot of research on their boots and chose these for their arch support, which has been great. I've also worn them out in the rain and mud several times, and they remain perfectly dry and clean off well, plus their traction has remained good so far. Another great feature of these boots is that they are extremely easy to put on because of the hook at the top, which means that they will probably last longer in the heel than their predecessors. One thing I should note is that the brown color (chocolate chip) is quite a bit darker than depicted, and because of the wide toe box, they're not the most feminine-looking boot on the market. Overall, I've been extremely pleased with these boots.

Pros: comfort, waterproof, quality

Most comfortable hiking boots I've owned!
August 12, 2011

These boots fit my wide flat feet wonderfully and required no break in. I wore them on a three day hiking trip in the Sangre de Cristos straight out of the box and my feet felt great. The soles are quite a bit more flexible than my rugged full-leather backpacking boots, but provided a lot more support than my Merrell Moabs, which is exactly what I was looking for. The toe box has plenty of room, which meant no more rubbing or blisters on my little toe like other boots have caused. The waterproofing worked great for stream crossing. I can't comment on the longevity, since I've only worn them a few times. But so far, I love them!

Pros: comfortable

SOOOO Comfy!
August 10, 2011

I love this boot. Wore it out after many hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains and am back for a second pair. Kept my feet dry when crossing shallow creeks and were more comfortable than some of my sneakers. The heel is very cushioned which makes it not only comfortable, but protects your ankle. They definately run small. Their site says 1/2 size, but I wear a 7.5 ladies shoe and I definately need an 8.5 in these. A size 9 might be even better to give me another couple of millimeters to accomodate for swelling on longer hikes.

Pros: comfort, cushy heel
Cons: wish the toe box was a tiny bit roomier

Nice shoe, but not for my feet
August 10, 2011

The shoes look to be good quality, and felt good right when I put them on, but after walking around the house a few minutes, the ankle area of the boot was too stiff, and the shoe was feeling a little short in the toe. I'm hard to fit though, and it's probably more a problem with my feet. I wear inserts for pronated ankles. I need support on the ankles, but don't want to feel like it's bruising my leg, even with the cushioning. I ended up with Timberlines that seem a little roomier in the ankle, and longer in the toe in the same size. Both were size 10s.

Cons: too snug in the ankle, a bit too short

Highly recommended hiking boots
August 06, 2011

Previously I was hiking with TNF Hedgehog Mid Cut shoes, and had to replace them after 2 years as the soles were coming apart. I choose these Targhee II mid cut boots due to the raving reviews I saw here, and true enough, they really are perfect! The boots are lightweight, and are comfortable from the very first time I wore them. Compared to TNF Hedgehog, these babies had better grip, probably due to the wide front design. I've not tested the waterproofing yet, but I am sure it will excel, as the reviews before me said so. Highly recommend!

Pros: lightweight

She loved them!
August 04, 2011

Bought these as a gift for my daughter. She was very pleased. They were wide enough (which her last boots weren't), and very light, which makes for great comfort while out in the Oregan woods in all weather. As a Keen fan myself, I ordered them 1/2 size larger, like I always do with mine. I have these boots as well, and have worn them for miles, straight out of the box.

Pros: light weight with good support

I am enjoying the boots so far.
August 01, 2011

I have worn these boots on a 6 mile hike and an 8 mile hike and so far they are a great boot. The 8 mile hike included a thunderstorm and my feet stayed dry and I kept traction on the rocks. I love all of the Keen products I have owned and these are no different.

Finally a great waterproof boot
July 23, 2011

These boots are perfect. Comfortable and great for hiking on various terrains. I hike with my dog and need traction up-hill & down-hill, sometimes she sneaks off. I have to go get her in areas/terrains I would never attempt, but these boots get me there and back. I usually wear a 5 1/2, but purchased a six. My feet are a little wide r than most that wear a 5 1/2 and there is enough room to wear mid weight wool socks.

Pros: fit, functuin
Cons: none

These are great boots and I bought up 1/2 size after reading the reviews. This might work for some but for six days of back packing I need one size, at least, larger. So, alas I shall return these as I know from hiking the Grand Canyon in December that I need extra toe room to avoid loosing toenails. Should be noted that I have had bilateral toe surgery and the comfort of these is great just not the size.

fantastic boots
June 18, 2011

I needed field boots that would be both waterproof, yet comfortable in warm weather. These boots did not require a breaking in period, are extremely comfortable and went beyond my expectations. I ordered them based on other reviews on this site and those reviews did not let me down. I ordered a half size larger and they fit great. I highly recommend them.

They come with me on every trip
May 26, 2011

I love my Targhee II's. I'm an avid hiker/backpacker with flat feet and a bunion, and this shoe is very comfortable and can get me through a long day of hiking in comfort. I like the shoelace locks- they don't look like much but they really hold the laces exactly to how tight you cinch them. The mid-ankle height keeps my ankles from turning, and the breathable 'goretex'-like waterproof coating really works. My only issue with these boots was sizing. I am normally an 8.5, or 39 European. I have a lot of Keen shoes, and I almost always fit into the size 9, as Keens seem to run small. When I ordered the Targhee II, I ordered my usual nine, but my toes were hitting the front of the boot. So I'm actually wearing these in a 9.5, a full size larger than my normal shoe size.

Pros: shoelace system
Cons: sizing

Great Shoes
March 31, 2011

I bought Women's Targhee II Mid Hiking Boot for my wife because I really like Men's. Targhee II Mid Hiking Boot is the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I use one for my work, firming. The shoes are different from other products. My wife also likes to wear it for hinking. Other shoes have not really fited her feet except this product. Her feet used to get hurt every time we went hinking. I really reccomend to other people.

not too bulky
March 19, 2011

These shoes/boots are great for hiking because they are not your typical bulky hiking boot. I would recommend getting your true size though. I got a half size smaller and they work but, would be more better to have a tad more room. I have used these on 14ers and they work great - in them for hours, waterproof, great traction!

March 16, 2011

I used my new boots for the first time this past weekend. Only a 4 mile hike but I really like the boots. I did order 1/2 size larger and they fit fine. I can even wear thicker hiking socks comfortably. I was most impressed with their light weight. They certainly don't feel like clunky hiking boots. They are very comfortable. I had no problems with blisters or any other discomfort. They did feel a little warm but I was wearing a medium weight hiking sock. It was a 65 degree day. I didn't even bother to take them off when I got in the car. They really felt good on my feet even if a little warm. I did walk through some 3" running water and mud. No problem inside the boot. And, they cleaned up nicely when I got home. They no longer have that new look. I think they look even better! This is my third pair of Keen's and I am very happy with the quality of their products. Well spent money.

These boots are so comfortable. They are so light for hiking boots. My husband has had a pair for 3 months and they are his favorite casual wear. They have become mine just since they arrived. These shoes are fantastic! I am a college student, and I was looking for boots that could hold up to Minnesota winters, and still be comfortable working inside and walking around in. They were super comfortable the minute I put them on, and they keep my feet warm and dry outside in the cold. When I'm inside, my feet don't overheat, and I could easily see using these hiking or wearing them in the rain as well. They are my winter boots, but I will be keeping them out for year-round use.

Optimum Hiking Boots
March 09, 2011

This is by far the best hiking boot that I have every purchased. The KEEN brand is superior for support, design, functionality, and durability. It is true to size but some order a half size up for greater comfort as this is personal preference. I am 5' 5" and weigh 110 lbs so I ordered this boot in my regular size and I am extremely satisfied. It provides fantastic support when I am climbing and trekking in the woods and I love the design. It is the perfect boot for elegance in style with optimum functionality. I have a severe neck injury from a car accident so the gripping action in the soles greatly helps me to prevent falls. Another plus is that Altrec is an excellent company. The boots came well-packed and arrived very fast. I found their customer service to be exemplary plus they are the only outdoor store I know of that offers a lifetime guarantee for their products.

Pros: design, functionality, safety, durability

I bought these for my wife. We like to hike, but she has developed chronic foot pain over the last few years. She has a hard time finding boots that are wide enough to be comfortable. We have tried several brands, but these are the best for her. The heel is comfortable and the toe box is wide.

New hiking and walking shoes
February 25, 2011

I had a comfortable pair of hiking shoes that I used daily to walk 3 miles with my dog and the heels literally pulled away from the soles. I searched alot on the internet and found that these boots are highly recommended by all who have tried them. They were comfortable as many stated right out of the box. They do feel quite stiff still around the ankles and sure with time will soften up. Nice quality and color. They do have a square toe which is different than my North Face or Merrells. Fit is exact.

February 15, 2011

I own Keen Newport sandals and Keen Presidio shoes that I work 12 hour days in. When I started looking for a hiking boot, Keen was a logical option. I currently use Merrill hiking shoes, but I am so in love with my other Keens I had to give them a shot. I am not disappointed! Very comfortable right out of the box. I bought a 1/2 size up and they are perfect! I love the wide toe box. They just cover my ankle bone (I'm 5' 1") and are very comfortable around the ankle, No rubbing or sore spots. They feel great! I purchased the boots 1/2 size larger as recommended based on a posted review and the boot fit was accurate. I purchased my boots 5 months earlier than my hiking trip in May 2011 to the Grand Canyon to ensure they would be well broken in. I received my boots on January 15, 2011 and these boots were comfortable the first day I wore them for 8 hours. I have been wearing them for at least 8 hours every other day since received.
