The only shirt I wear in the wilderness
April 09, 2012

Not much to add on its performance. It's great! FYI, I'M 6'2" and 188 lbs and I own the short sleeve in L and the long sleeve in XL. L is tight and I would not wear it around town, but thats not what I use it for anyway. The XL fits like a fitted T. Very nice!

Excellent, functional
February 17, 2012

This is a great baselayer. I have both 150 and 200 wool garments and I find that the 150 is more comfortable than the 200 wool. I can also use the 150 for temps down to the 30's when doing activities, although others might opt for the 200 at this range. Anything cooler than that and I use my 200 wool. The fit is perfect for my size... I am 5'10 165lbs 40" chest 11% body fat and the fit is really nice. The raglan sleeve is useful especially since i wear this when doing active things (hiking/biking). The one drawback is I think the sleeve is a half inch too long for me (I just pull the sleeve up a bit and its perfect). 5 stars!!!

Great baselayers year round
February 12, 2012

About 4 years ago I bought 3 of these and liked them so much (I was wearing them every day) that I bought 3 more to add to the rotation. I simply wash with all the rest of my clothes and hang to dry. A couple of times the sleeves got spun up on the washing machine agitator, but the seams are stitched so well there was never any damage. These shirts wick moisture away and dry out fast, don't get nearly as funky after days on the trail and provide me the perfect base to build on year round. In the summer too much sun can make me feel ill so the long sleeves give me added protection while still being thin enough so I don't overheat. I'm 5'11 200# and the large fits me well (not skin tight).

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance
Cons: Cost

Great Shirt Fitted or Oversized
February 04, 2012

I buy a lot of Icebreaker--I have about 10 different models/shirts. I bought this again after almost always going back to my first Atlas instead of choosing to wear my Bodyfit 200 shirts. The 150 is light enough to not feel a bit too warm on the slightly warmer days. I tend to wear a medium and sometimes I prefer to not be "bodyfit" and thus order a bit larger for more casual wear than a tighter baselayer. I also prefer the lighter weight/feel of the 150 on my body. Merino wool has some advantages to synthetics but wool is a heavier material. Anyway, I oversized to an XL on my first Atlas and did so for my second Atlas. I use the dryer with these shirts so the oversizing helps a bit in this respect, too. For casual everyday wear with cargo shorts, you'd have no idea that this shirt is an XL in either the length or sleeve. I'm 5'10 with 39 chest and 31 waist with 33 sleeve. Durability has been even better than some of my GT150s, which is surprising because the GT adds Lycra for a more retained fit and durability; however, the GT is woven a bit more airy with breathing panels, etc. The 150 is a solid weave and hasn't shown as much wear as the GT. I tend to prefer 150 weight and forgo the 200 almost all of the time. When I need warmth I go up to a 260. With the logo on the front the 150 looks a little less like a plain/athletic shirt for everyday use.

Death to PolyPro
April 02, 2011

After I purchased an Icebreaker Atlas I dumped all my old poly pro shirts - this stuff is great. I use the Icebreaker Atlas when bike commuting as a base layer. Very comfortable, warm and best of all it does not stink. I literally did a side-by-side test with Patagonia Capilene - I could rock the Icebreaker Atlas all week, no stink, the Patagonia - one day and it was done. Icebreaker did a great job with this piece - perfect weight, fits close to the skin and the wool is super soft. A must buy base layer.

Great shirt, great temperature control
March 25, 2011

This shirt is magic. It keeps you warm on cooler days and cool on warmer days. The fit is snug and has longer sleeves than most long sleeve t-shirts. Kind of pricey, but if you catch a sale it is weel worth it. Washed it a few times, but you have to remember to pull it to hang dry. I highly reccomend.

Great for hiking, biking and running
January 02, 2011

I love these! I use them for running, biking and hiking in Chicago's brutal winter weather. They fit great, don't develop odor like my Under Armour, and wash and dry easy. I would definitely recommend these.

Okay merino shirt
November 23, 2010

I love merino wool products, this shirt is a good shirt. I would have liked it to be a bit more form fitting around the midsection because after a good workout the material will move too much from the sweat. The quality is good and during general wear it holds and regulates heat very well. Fits tight around shoulders and arms.

Ice Breaker
November 11, 2010

This top fits like a glove. It's warm and stays in place while hiking, skiing or running. You can wear it for an extended amount of time and it still smells like you just washed it.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever
