Great hammock-weight capacity bit light for some
May 03, 2012

Great little hammock, ultralight, I purchased one for my daughter to use (Wildland Firefigher). Note that the weight limit is only 250 though, I say "only" as I don't like getting too close to a limit and I run 240-245 alone, so it's not for me. ENO has a limit of 400, so that's where I go with it (actually, I typically sleep in a Hennssy system, but I'll bring the ENO when I'm tent camping). Plus side for this: Very light, packs in it's own stuff sack, I don't have much issue with the S hooks that others do. Negative: capacity, but you'll get that with just about every ultralight hammock so it's more a typical of this class than a negative for this hammock.

Light and great for the price

Great hammock that packs down small. Very comfortable. It does not come with a hanging kit but they are easy to make. I never go packing without it. I highly recommend it!

Pros: light, durable, comfortable

Amazing!
February 20, 2012

I recieved this hammock a few weeks ago and so far love it! It is lightweight and conveniently comes with its own stuff sack. The only reason it gets 4 stars is because the suspension system could be better (the S-biners are sharp and awkward to use, and it doesn't come with an rope to hang it). That being said, it is an amazing hammock otherwise (very comfy, especially if you do the diagonal lay) and I am planning on using it this summer for a backpacking trip to Yosemite instead of a tent. For the price, you can't beat it!

Pros: lightweight

Light and cheap
September 25, 2011

I already own a ENO doublenest hammock and wanted to try out a smaller version for some fast and light backpacking. I haven't got to field test it yet but I strung it up in my backyard and it napped nicely. I was really impressed with the weight... Next to none. The little s hooks that come equipped seem nice but I switched them out for some carabiners. GrandTrunk has some really cool stuff and this ultralight tops the charts of budget conscious.

Pros: light, easy set up, convenient carry pouch
Cons: a bit narrow, small s hook attachments

Grand Trunk ultralight... ftw!
March 14, 2011

I love this hammock! I try to practice the ultralight philosophy yet I still bring this hammock with me whenever I go backpacking for the luxury of something comfortable to relax on. The fabric doesn't feel strong, but it certainly is. I'm about 170lbs of solid muscle & fury and the Grand Trunk ultralight keeps me afloat with no signs of strain. The one thing that I think is dumb that the company put in is the system at each end. Its essentially strong thick nylon cord and metal 'S' hooks (which for the ultralighter weigh a ton). You can further reduce the weight if you replace this system with paracord, as i have, or with a wire gate caribeaner to keep the weight down. Another thing I must add is if you're new to hammocking, you're supposed to lay at ABOUT a 30 degree angle to the midline for the best support to your back. I originally thought this hammock was an exception, but after a little fiddling I found that sweet spot per say. I got the cammo so i could use it to hide my tent if I ever want to stealth camp. It was hard to dish out the extra $10 on such a cheap item for my preferred color, but I'm okay with that. Overall, I'm very happy with my hammock so far... and i think if something did happen to it that was my fault, i'd probably get another one.

Pros: Great value, comfortable
Cons: i'm iffy on longevity

I've been pleased!

Light, simple, inexpensive. Great hammock in my opinion. Very comfortable, plenty of room, and holds me just fine! ( 190lbs )

Support rope broke upon first attempt of use causing me to crash... Need I say more
