Helmet

Best helmet ever. Little more hotter then other bike helmets but more safe. 10 years ago I have a head injury I can take any chances. Thanks BERN for a great product at a good price.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuedesign moving in the right direction

After wearing lightweight mountain bike helmets during my commutes for 13+ years, this is a nice change. The shell is not bulky, the visibility is excellent, and the fit is very comfortable. Bern has incorporated some nice, original design details. The replaceable liner is well made, as is the helmet. The straps are soft and the buckle is well-placed. The helmet provides EPS protection with the durability of a multi-impact skate style helmets, sans the massive outer shell. The tighter outer shell dimensions are akin to the Specialized helmets I have worn. Over the past week I have found myself surprised by how much better my peripheral visibility is and that's nice in the town that I ride. It's a feature I did not expect to rise so high for me. It's certainly toastier than high air flow racing helmets, but there is some draft to help evaporate the sweat. Bern is moving in the right direction here.
Pros: Build quality, Ease of useGood to Me

Because the BERN helmet is my first in the bmx/skate category, I cannot offer the best or most insightful review of the Bern Macon Summer EPS Helmet. However, I will say I am loving the helmet - the design is slick, aesthetically it is appealing (great color scheme and helmet design). I am using the helmet for long boarding and some higher intensity skiing and it is serving me well; I have had a few spills on the longboard, hitting my head, but the helmet served its purpose, received minimal (hardly noticeable) damage and my head felt great (which is the most important function of the helmet). Additionally, the removable padding is a great feature (allows the padding to be washed, and allows the helmet to dry/ air out). The most significant criticism of the helmet (though not a big deal) is the limited breathability of the helmet (the few air holes). Can get hot and sweaty with higher intensity activity. Overall, great helmet, great color options, durable, comfortable - and a reasonable price.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, great color optionsVery Good, However...

Make sure to measure your head to get an more approximate size for your head. I thought I was a large. I received an XL size and the helmet is snug. Comfortable to be sure, but perhaps could run on the small size. I received the yellow colored helmet. It is bright and vibrant. I feel more confident with a helmet that is highly visible to traffic. The Macon Summer does just that. I just received the helmet and so cannot attest to its durability, but is looks well crafted. I am happy to be wearing this helmet.
Pros: Build quality, Ease of useAwesome Helmet

Of all the helmets I've tried on for snowboarding, Bern seems to put on the highest quality helmets in my opinion. Other brands seem too focused on putting out cheap, lightweight materials, but Bern's EPS certified helmets feel like an actual helmet. Bern's fit isn't for everyone's head though, so make sure you try one on before you buy.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueFor my kids

I bought one of these helmets for each of my kids and they are great. Comfortable and very cool looking. My kids love them and I do as well. Really like the Bern helmet. Great for skating and will be great for snowboarding as well. Two thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Great design, Build qualityQuality cap, tight fit

I picked this helmet out for its looks, and I believe that remains its strong point. The color selection and multi-sport design is top notch. I replaced my standard cycling helmet for the Macon, and was impressed the new look. However, the helmet is a real tight fit, and offers only slight padding between the shell and your noggin. It seems like its not ovular enough to contour with my head. I was a 'large' with my last helmet, but should have gone up to an XL. The tightening mechanism on the rear of the helmet seems weak though. All said, I do enjoy this helmet.
Pros: Build quality, PerformanceProtection and comfort with simple/compact design

I've been looking for a new helmet for a long time. This is the first I've purchased that I have kept. It is simple and compact. It is not big and bulky like most helmets that are 2X the size of your head. It seems to over good coverage and protection (though thankfully I haven't tested that yet) while still having good ventilation. The vents in the front of the helmet provide particularly good cooling for my (shaved) head. It fits snugly, especially with the visor attached. Speaking of the visor, I really like that it is easily removed and re-attached. It's nice to be able to clean it (I sweat a lot). I chose the matte blue version with visor. I like the color - it is a little unique without being shiny/flashy. I would (in fact, have) recommend this helmet to friends and family.

I got a black Bern Macon helmet for bike riding and I absolutely love it. I ride in Houston, Tx and ventilation is not a problem. Definitely worth the money. I'd say the size fits tight. So if your size falls on the high end of the size range - definitely go one size higher. The EPS helmet is certified for impact. The Brock foam is a everyday "hard hat" and is lighter, but not meant for sports. So if you plan to use a helmet to protect your head, go with the EPS.
