good choice
December 29, 2011
I have other "hard cases" that I've purchased over the years, but I've always found them to be a bit bulky. It really does not matter when you are going to the resort, but in the back country it's nice to have something that takes up less space in the pack. This guy does the trick, without compromising protection. I ski with large, OTG ("over the glasses") goggles, and this case is big enough to hold them. That said, it's easy to squeeze into my pack for the approach hike on a ski mountaineering trip. In fact, I can nest two of these cases inside my helmat when it's strapped to the back of my pack, meaning they take up no room inside the pack at all. That also means they are ready at hand when it's time to don my helmat for the descent. And carrying two cases gives me a choice between a very dark and a high contrast lens. You can't do that with the larger, zippered hard cases made by others, unless you are wearing a REALLY large pack. And who wants to ski wearing a REALLY large pack?
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, no zipper to fail, very low bulk
