Description

Arcteryx has done it; they created the ideal base layer for any activity with the Arcteryx Men's Rho LTW Zip long sleeve shirt. Constructed with soft, itchless, stretch knit merino wool, the Rho LTW insulates even when completely saturated, regulates temperature far better than synthetic long underwear, and resists odor, even on a week-long backcountry trip. A front half zip makes for easy layering and great ventilation and the no-lift gusseted underarms give you the freedom to move without restriction. Using the natural properties of wool to insulate never felt so good as when you're wearing the Arc'teryx Rho LTW Zip Neck top for men.

Warm but fits small.
February 23, 2012

I ordered a medium--I'm 6 feet 160 pounds. But it felt tight so I sent it back for a large. I was surprised that it was tight since I read others say that medium was just right at about my measurements and weight. I guess some folks really like tight shirts as a base. I really like Arcteryx clothing- always quality stuff and does tend to be a closer fit and medium is always good for me except for the Rho. I'm sold on shirts, pants and jacket with Arcteryx.

top of the line
January 12, 2012

I had tested the LTW Zip over the first week of January and I believe this is a great base layer. I am 5'8'' and 160 and medium fits me just right. It kept me warm and dry. The only reason I didn't give it five stars in comfort is that I always feel any wool being itchy, even merino, despite the fact that this one is very soft. LTW Zip is perfectly tight around the body, including the collar around the neck. At the same time the zipper is so awesome to have when you're putting it on or off, as opposed to dealing with tight turtlenecks that you can hardly squeeze your head through. Another great advantage is no odor from this piece of apparel, which really comes handy when you are skiing for a week every day, and you only need to have with you one base layer, rather than a change of cotton/polyester set you have to change every day, so that you don't stink on the hill like a heard of goats. Overall, this is the best base layer I have ever used, with the only issue for me being the slight itching. Just as with all Arc'teryx products, this one is top of the line!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
Cons: Cost

Great Base Layer
November 12, 2011

I received the Rho last week, and have had a chance to take it on two MTB rides in the high 30s. Needless to say, it worked very well. The Merino wool does it job in being soft, form-fitting yet strechy, and definitely not itchy. The quality of construction is typical of Arc'teryx: excellent. I am 5'9'', 155lbs and medium build and I must say the medium size is about as tight as would be acceptable. Since I am using it as a baselayer in the cold days, the tight fit is fine, but if you want to wear it as an outer layer on warmer days and you are of similar size, you better have a great body or buy a size larger. The sleeve length is slightly longer than needed, but not much of a problem.

I got a rho last year and am planning on getting some more for the upcoming ski season. Now that I am used to the comfort and warmth of merino wool, I wouldn't go back to synthetic materials. After a season of use it seems very durable.

A high quality baselayer for outdoor activity. Even looks good for everyday use. I am 184cm, 85kg and I bought size L. It gives a tight fit, yet long enough not to crawl up my back.

Good baselayer, As it is made by wool, I feel very comfy and soft next to skin. It could provide warm in winter. Moreover, same with other Arc'teryx ones, it has a high quality. by the way, it is so stretchable that I have no limit in body in some sport or outdoor activities.

Comfortable, thin, warm
March 21, 2011

This zip neck looks great and feels great. It does run on the small side, so if you're borderline, go with a larger size. I normally would wear a medium in a shirt like this, but the large fits me tight, so just a heads up. It is my favorite (and now only) long sleeve shirt in my travel gear. Thanks Arc Rho!

I bought this for my husband and he loved it! The fit was perfect. I ordered a large, he is 6'1", 180lbs. He wore it as a layer on a chilly snowmobile ride and it kept him warm and dry. It is functional and stylish.

I was not sure how good it would be before I purchased this item. Now I know how good it is. I tried this shirt in cold days (below zero degree) under gamma mx and alpha sv. It worked fine. Absolutely it was comfy and warm. It tights my body, it gives me a little pump in moving. I don't know how many shirts I have. But this is the primary gear in most winter times. thanks!

I bought this for my BF and he absolutely loves it! It fits well beneath his hardshell, and provides the warmth he needs on these cold days. It breathes well, and is super soft and stretchy. It is also quite stylish - so he will be looking good at apres ski!

I am 5'10, 183lb, and usually wear medium size, but this rho ltw fits tight, so I ordered size large, it fits perfect expect for the sleeve is a little longer, but that's ok for me. It is soft and light, but keeps you warm. I will order for my wife too.

Men's Rho LTW Zip Neck
October 26, 2010

One of the important factors that I appreciate about Arc'Teryx is the snug fit and excellent arm length. I am 6'5, 215 pounds with a 37" sleeve length and able to wear Arc'Teryx baselayer garments in a large size. For outerwear, I jump to an XL.

makes other merino baselayers look weak
October 23, 2010

Long-time wool user here, have Patagonia merino 1 and 3 and several Icebreaker long sleeve mid- and baselayers, and Arcteryx LTW has them beat on fit and durability. Patagonia merino is gentle and relaxing but wears pretty quickly and the fit is overall looser since there's no stretch. LTW has a somewhat more "technical" close fit with moderately long sleeve lengths - close to ideal.

Awesome baselayer!
October 14, 2010

I bought this pullover as a gift for my dad and he absolutely loves it. It has the same high quality we've come to expect from Arc'Teryx, and is extremely comfortable and looks great on him! It's warm but very breathable -- he wears it as a light layer several times a week and it still looks new -- it's even dressy casual enough to wear out. It's fitted, but he's a big guy (6'3", 215) and it's plenty long enough -- size Large is perfect. Another Arc'Teryx staple!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use
Cons: Cost, Low performance

Very well made!!!
September 06, 2010

Being that is summer time, I've only had the opportunity to wear it a couple times. Came in handy on a brisk early morning bike ride, very comfortable and warm, I normally wear a large, I went with the x-large as it is a slim fit style base layer.

Terrific first layer or single layer for indoor activity
January 26, 2010

This is a very good looking first layer, that my son has taken to wearing as his only layer indoors. He loves it for its soft feel, super nice fit. The fabric is breathable so it does not make him feel sweaty. It looks great when he is going out in the evening too.

Killer Base
March 28, 2009

Merino is the grand master and Arc does a fine job of creating a killer base that performs very well. Very comfortable and does not stink. There is just a slight problem with the hand washing but that is easy to figure out. Maybe I run a little hot but using it for bike rides seems a problem. Other than that well worth the high cost of a natural product!!

Another great product- well made and high-quality fabric. Would note that since this is a baselayer it's fit it pretty snug.
